In addition to that, a lung transplant is not a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
But like others have said, she most definitely did not survive. The movie would've lost a lot of credit if it had made viewers believe that a teenage girl who had done all her practicing on birds could successfully pull off one of the most difficult surgeries in existence.

Both the girls operated on were alive and well at the end! The mum was screaming with joy.
