Yup. I though - now we'll know, now we'll find out
She'll say - Goodbye _________
but she didn't. And I don't know how that makes me feel.
Deprived maybe, but still Some things are better left unknown.
Oh, the humanity -

Even if she had said "goodbye ____ it still would not have been his real name. Tropper has said that the name that Carrie knew him by was not his real name. She didn't know his real name. Not sure about Job though.

Yep! From what occurs on the show, it would seem that Job knew (eradicating him from the system when he and Hood first meet), but I guess it's possible that even THAT name was not his real one.

But that's irrelevant anyway, right? The cops who arrested him never knew his real name to begin with, because he never cracked. And they had to fill in something. There's this mini-series they did, where the cop tries to interrogate Hood and he's pissed that he doesn't even say his name.
btw: My interpretation is John Smith, which I never thought was his real name. https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com:443/data.filmboards/images/upload/oJkiPXr.png -

Yeah, it's NOT, and I'm going nuts over people's refusal to accept this. THE NAME IN THE FILE IS NOT HIS REAL NAME!!!!

Thank you for understanding my frustration.
I know a lot of other posters also remember and are just having fun with this, but it's driving me crazy that it remains an 'issue'.
