Thinking about it I think maybe it was how he got the money for the last half hour of Rivermind? He said it wasn't another tooth thing but something specialist.
The rep was awful but I suppose she was also trapped by Rivermind and the app was allowing her to say and do things beyond her conscience.

The rep was just awesome. The more interactions with her the more you understood that beneath the positive exterior she was pretty much uncaring. Or at least fantastically unhelpful. -

Tracee Ellis Ross played the rep. She was so good. They all were. I think she said and did things to keep her probably free Rivermind Lux status. Part of her compensation package with set terms and conditions.

I thought the same, although Chris O'Dowd isn't as old as I thought he was, I could have sworn he was in his 50's. I didn't think that part of the story added much to the plot either.
I think killing himself online was more for the audience to drive home the point that people would pay to see literally anything, but I agree his character probably wouldn't have done that.
