If he didn't shoot himself how long was it going to go on?
How does tricking an old man into believing his house was haunted mean anything significant? So your pranks tricked him because he didn't figure out you had rigged things to go wrong, so what?
What was the purpose of the experiment?
Why did they compare it to the experiment where strangers purposely effected people's life, it wasn't anything like that experiment.
Was the point of the story that these kids were idiots who were only doing this because they were bored?

The point of the movie was to make you feel stupid for watching it.

I'm not sure what Ethan convinced Sean the outcome would be or purpose was; but I don't think there ever actually was one in the context of a psychological experiment. Ethan had his own motives for conducting the experiment/'prank' and somehow got Sean to go along with it so he could use his money to get everything necessary to carry it out. You can tell in the beginning by Sean's attitude that he's kind of nervous about it, maybe because he still didn't understand the point.
For one, Ethan revealed he would 'do anything for a million views'. If he got anything good on camera, he could post it online for views.
Primarily, though, he wanted revenge on the neighbor. He came up with the haunting idea as a way to torment him and covered it up as an 'experiment.' The hidden cameras were so he could watch the affects of his revenge. Ethan probably never really considered or cared how it would end.
Finally, I think the purpose of bringing up the Little Albert experiment may have been Sean trying to make Ethan understand that they could really do some damage to the neighbor. While it didn't have the exact same result, they did mess the neighbor up psychologically in a way that couldn't be undone.

In the beginning it was stated it would last SIX WEEKS OR UNTIL THEY GOT A REACTION. THEY STATED IF NOTHING HAPPENED WITHIN SIX WEEKS EVERYTHING WOULD BE ABORTED.

Their motivations didn't really make sense (other than revenge). Like what was the end game? Even if the guy didn't off himself, soon as they posted their "experiment" on the internet or whatever someone would just call the cops on them cause they clearly broke a beep ton of laws. An "experiment" is pretty useless if you can't publish the results and get credit for them without screwing up your life (even with the ridiculously light sentencing no way he can still go to that college etc).

Yeah that didnt make sense to me either. If they had one million views on their illegal surveillance footage, they would definitely get caught

There was the revenge aspect that probably started the whole idea for that one guy.
I think they also styled themselves as researcher philosphers, which obviously they werent. Their whole premise of their experiment was stupid. Obviously if you make someone house seem like its haunted, its going to make them react differently than usual.
