Do Americans go to message boards for Russian-made movies and complain that said movies have a pro-Russian theme to them? If they do, they would be stupid.

From what the trailer has shown, yes the Russians seem to be the bad guy. From the short story, the revelation is that the Aliens brought the humans together from all walks of life to learn and be enlightened. However that doesn't seem to make for a great story in Hollywood so it needs a bit more 'splosions and fireworks.

I am really sick and tired of America always being the center of everything, don't you Americans get tired of it yourselves? Imagine what it's like for everyone else?
This might come as a shock to some of you, but there's an entire world outside of America. American games journalism is a perfect and clear cut example of how out of touch a lot of people are in America when it comes to the fact that you're not the center of the universe and that you're like one out of almost 200 countries out there. And also, that you're NOT the moral authority and saviour of the planet. There's countries out there that are FAR ahead of you in terms of social progress and well being of the people living in the country.
Go ahead and dismiss everything and just accuse me of being '' anti American '' or whatever. I am not tho. It's the same when you defend the Japanese from undue criticism as a result of ignorance of said person making accusations. You get accused of being a '' Weeaboo '' ( someone who worships Japan and believes that everything about Japan is better than the West ). It's so beep stupid. You can criticize and defend a country without hating it or worshipping it.
People always talk about diversity, but forget that it also applies to other things than being white or dark skinned.
People tend to forget nationality. Not every country shares the same social norms, values and history as America.
Slavery is a good example really. It has been illegal in Sweden since the freaking 1300's. Yet some people appear to think that they can judge me as a white person using the American history of slavery and guilt trip me with it as an argument in debates. Sorry, but what the hell? LOL????????????
It's really strange too, because America isn't even the actual real financial source for Hollywood. China alone is far more important than America when it comes to tickets sold.
Loads of people love to point at Chinese and Japanese movies too in terms of a lack of diversity. But hey, how many fluent Japanese and Chinese speaking Western actors are there? It's not easy to find a full cast of Western actors who speak the language AND fit the role ( and is a good actor ).
American Hollywood movies have literally no excuse whatsoever, and many ( if not most ) of the actors aren't even American to begin with in most movies.
Why not take advantage of this instead of casting them as '' Mericuhn dude bro number 95315198519513 ''???????????? It's just so baffling to me.
If anything, I think more highly of Americans than to believe that American audiences can't handle a non Merichun stereotype character number 19835135189751. But apparently, Hollywood doesn't think so. Apparently Hollywood thinks that you're all stupid and that you can't identify with and care about a character unless they're another bland American blank slate character..
I'd be mad if I was American too.
The fact that it's 9 out of 10 times the Russians or Germans who are the bad guys is just another aspect of this. It's just Hollywood treating you lot in America as idiots. And if it isn't Russia or Germany. It's the Chinese or insert random Arabic terrorist here. -

I'm not a fan of America either to be honest but it seems that with your constant blabbering you might actually be obsessed or jealous? -

'Mericuh' makes the movies, they dish out large sums of money to make them, I'd assume at least half of the staff that makes Hollywood movies is American, so grant them the right to be the heroes. It's their movie, it's their privilige, they decide.
Bollywood movie = Indish (or is it Indian? Sorry) hereos
Chinese movie = Chinese heroes
Japanese movie = Japanese heroes
Russian movie = Russian hereos
German movie = German heroes

Why do you get pissed by that? The movie is American, let America & Americans be the center of the movies universe, even if it's broadcast worldwide.
America isn't even the actual real financial source for Hollywood
Don't look only at this year's ticket sales. The U.S. was, is and will be one of the major sources for Hollywood both in terms of revenue and inspiration. -

Are you sure that it is only the Americans interacting with the aliens? In the book, many countries interacted with the aliens. They also cooperated with each other. However, the book is from the perspective of the linguist, so there may have been a whole conflict over what was being shared between countries that Dr. Banks was never made privy to.
So maybe one country in the movie isn't sharing information or something they discovered. Maybe America is doing the same. It is obvious that the book is going to deviate from book, but you're making a lot of assumptions from one trailer. -

You're wrong about that. The libs in Hollywood are scared to death of making those people madthey may chop off your head. This is a myth but through propaganda many people think it's a reality. South Park did an episode about this where everybody was losing their minds because a tv show was going to show an image of Mohammed! The people literally put their heads in the sand so they can claim they didn't watch it! And believe it or not, the channel that airs South Park censored the cartoon image of Mohammed! Another instance of the bs myth that Arabs are used for movie villains is the movie adaptation of Clancy's "The Sum of All Fears". In the book the terrorists were Arab, but in the movie they changed it towait for itGermans! My point is just like we're always allerted to "backlash" against Muslims after terrorist attacks (of course nobody can find any actual evidence of it unless some lefty white guy fakes the "backlash")it's a myth that movies over use Arabs for movie baddies. If you listen to the talking heads and propaganda you'd think it was the casebut go and actually look for it and you won't find it
