Why didn't anyone remember using pictures and movies to learn a languag?

Why did not anyone remember using pictures and movies to learn or teach a language? Why not use tech? Neither the humans nor the aliens remembered that.
From what I understand these aliens are socially deficient though they are technologically savvy, but if the aliens wanted to teach us their language, I have not seen them try to teach us whatever. Did they ever think about a strategy how to communicate with us before coming here? I'm not going enter in the fact that they already knew us because of their ability to see in the future because that would make things even more confusing. Besides, I think they know nothing about us and how aggressive we can be when they have decided to position their ships in several places around the world. This kind of presentation seems more like an invitation to a war than to a conversation, especially when the aliens do nothing to try to communicate with humans and explain why they are on earth and where do they come from, which in my opinion should be something that this aliens should know that humans would ask after their arrival. -

Basically, you are saying the future is fixed like a screenplay, in this case, a bad one. No matter what, humans would act exactly the same, just like good actors in a play. It's interesting that even in a play or film, the actors can improvise a little or a lot in certain occasions.
In a good screenplay, the writer would remember at least using pictures as a way of communication. -

But there needed to be some ambiguity in learning certain words which would set off the events that would nearly lead to war and ultimately unite everyone. If I remember correctly from the book, although admittedly I'd have to read it again to be sure, the future is fixed.

After they all nearly attacked the aliens, they did a 180 and decided to share all that they had discovered from the aliens with each other, thereby ushering in a new era of global harmony which led to the advancement of the human race, which in turn ensured that we would be ready to help them in 3000 years time. All of this happened over the misunderstanding over the word "gift/weapon".
She also published a book on the language and began to teach it in universities which I guess means that, over time, many other people became endowed with the gift of prescience. -

There is no free will. Things happen they way they happen and cannot be changed.
The heptapods knew how we would learn to communicate and followed the script. Their perception transcends time and they do what needs to be done for that to happen.
Why did they come to Earth? the teach us the language. They weren't supposed to teach us anything else, and they didn't.
Therefore, using other techniques to teach weren't necessary.
Could it be that simple? Yes.

The heptapods knew how we would learn to communicate and followed the script.
I guess who followed the script were the actors.

Of course they did. What the aliens are doing is trying not to reveal their technology as much as possible.
This is why they are not going to be showing movies of their home world.
They just arrive and expect one person to learn their language which is Dr. Banks.
The aliens can see the future. They know what will happen. And they act in a way to make the timeline happen.
