learned heptapod?
I was reading a breakdown of the movie that said in the future, everyone learns heptapod. I think that's the reviewer filling in the blanks there - I'm not sure that was explicitly stated in the film, just that Louise became a world-renowned expert and I'm sure many world leaders did too at Chang's request.
But I wonder if it became compulsory to learn? I absolutely could not see myself learning heptapod, partly because it just seems so incredibly difficult and time consuming, and I know I have struggled to learn other languages in the past. But the main reason I couldn't handle heptapod is knowing my own future, knowing the choices I made (choices future me might see as mistakes) that led to particular events happening. The way I see it, we learn from our mistakes, and if I premember making them I'm not sure I'll learn anything from deciding/trying to not make them at all.
