That scene is what made me bump up this from a 7 to an 8.
As a non-Star Trek fan I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Ya, have to admit, my wife and I liked the movie fairly well up to that point. It looked like they were not trying to go out of their way to be too silly or to cater to the crowd that simply wants noise and explosions. But this scene with the music really dumbed the movie down, and even made me ponder, if hundreds of years in the future, WHY would anyone even realize or care about the Beastie Boys. A lame choice of "Classical" music, and not even funny as a joke or reference to the first movie.

When I watched "Beyond" a couple of days ago, I just skipped over the Beastie Boys music moment.
          It's terrible.
This is a rip off of the end of Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks".
But Burton understands the humor and puts in music which is good Country Western but is so over the top that it's funny.
Beasties Boys in "Beyond" is to be avoided.
          Imo at least, BB 😉
it is just in my opinion - imo -

That part of the movie was the worst. I literally thought they wrote this because.hey it worked in Guardians of the Galaxy.

somewhat agree. that scene sudddenly turned this film into Guardians of the galaxy, which I despise.

Dont forget the generic futuristic looking police cars and that motorcycle7steampunk goggles racing scene i literally thought i was wwatching Batman & Robin agaain with the ice hockey scene. This has to be the worst output of anything star trek ive seen in my life, i was just glad it was over. Its not the worst movie ever made but it had ton of forced things like that odd female tribe thing, too much random focus on some characters and Idris Elba yet agaain cashing in on being a handsome black man yet no one questions his acting. The misplaced music with Sabotage that took out the last if any star trek feeling the movie had a weak villain wwith almost no backgroudn story and a general plot wwith no discovery or mystery whatsoever. Only bad unengaging dialoguye between heroes and villains too. This also had way too much action and you could literally feel what the director came from, the pacing between story and action was non existant almost. For what its worth some of the comedy parts were decent but it didnt really do anything aside from this being a unmemorable experience.
Star Trek hasnt ever been the same after the original 60s series which had tons of mystery/discovery and while i enjoyed the first in the 3 movies of these new ones the later 2 has been almost to the point of boring and a bad excuse at renewing or bringing the franchise to a bigger audience. These movies are a complete joke in comparison to the older works and should probably have been made with new original charaacters instead of using the ones from the best show. Theyve disgraced the franchise with these last 2 movies and i feel utterly disgusted.

Personally, that was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I thought it was a fabulous twist. Until now, the only music we've had in Trek has been classical and jazz; this was a nice change-up.
Rant over. You can all return to your normal lives.

One thing that really annoyed me is that the ships just start blowing up. I guess they're supposed to be crashing into each other? It would have been better if it disrupted their organization (like we were told it would) and that gave the Franklin and space station the edge to destroy them (so they crew would have to do something more than just flying close to the swarm and blasting music).

They should have played I Will Survive and have Sulu dress in drag.
