This was the first ST movie ever shot digitally (not on 35mm film) which is why it looked so bad - poor color, contrast, dynamic range and sets looking fake. I worked on this movie and the sets looked way more impressive in real life than in the movie.

True, that a very big shame. In addition to providing an undeniably superior source material, movies shot on film just turn out better because the whole shooting process feels more meaningful.

Same. It was a true Star Trek film. For all Trekkies alike, and even people who aren't really bothered about Star Wars or Star Trek, even Star Wars fans will probably like this. That's how good it is.

#14 - Getting a theory how to destroy all enemies within seconds out of nowhere after fighting them coneventionally for a whole movie.
#13 - Revealing how the McGuffin weapon which apparently is the reason the Enterprise was lured on the planet is pretty insignificant next to the fleet Krall already commands.
#12 - Krall forgetting where he parked his own apparently hardly damaged ship. -

The blatant Star Wars ship sound effects used for the enemy ships. Was It that hard for the sound engineers to come up with something original? Guess not. Almost none of the dialogue between the characters was satisfying. Someone said It seemed like a TV episode, and not a very good one. True. The only difference was the movie special effects. The story wasn't very complicated or interesting. Very tacky and stupid In a number of scenes. Nothing really moving, even the time given to Spock's death. Overall, meh. I was expecting way, way more on every level except the CGI. Also, way too many damn explosions. I also love new thought provoking technology. Wasn't really enough in this to interest me.

It really was dreadful. I like Simon Pegg but he just doesn't know Star Trek. Adding a few lines that reference the original series isn't enough to make a good film. The characters in these reboots have 0 chemistry and even less substance.

The Beastie Boys moment was totally cringe worthy, I agree.
I thought Bone's fell flat some of the time - but not all of the time.
I don't think Pegg is any good outside of contemporary comedy and pushes himself (and his ideas) into modern Sci FI reboots more because he likes the originals than actually having any additive skills toward them. I appreciate he really enjoys the sources and that his heart is in the right place but when is his brain going to kick in and make him realise he's not very good in serious roles or at storytelling?
Some of the other points you note (superglue bike, Enterprise destruction and Franklin jump starting) were indeed silly when you think about them in isolation but I didn't find them deal breakers in the moment. -

BRUTALLY HONEST.
This movie is precisely what is wrong with storytelling theese days
What is worse, the kids are gonna love it!!!!
I turned it off after the Beastie Boys scene. I mean Abrams took care of Star Trek. These guys are beep making a mockery of it. -

Agree with everything you said. It's a shame as I loved Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Run Fat Boy and Hot Fuzz - wish Simon would go back to his roots and start writing some good old British comedy again.
It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film! -

The goddam motorbike
Chris Pine still looks too young to play the part, the poster picture alone looks like some throw back to BMX bandits. Why the need to even have this stupid scene, could they not come up with something remotely to do with Star Trek like, I don't know, a battle in space.
Didn't they do something similar in Resurrection with Worf and Picard on a jeep.
Why introduce another new alien. So far with the reboots we've only had a few minutes of Klingons, Romulans and Vulcan's. I would nearly put up with some Bajoran's if meant they paid some proper homage to the previous shows and not this all action and special effects muck. -

Starting the film with the Enterprise crew already burnt out from their mission.
Everyone I know was looking forward to the next installment actually being about the Enterprise being on its mission: adventure, exploration, boldly going, seeking out new lives and new civilizations, etc. etc. But Pegg and Co skipped all that and jumped forward to "Yawn" "tedious" "ugh space exploration is so dull it's driving me to drink". Kirk and Spock are all " I
guess
I'll go on this one
last
mission if you
really
think I
have
to, but I'm
really
not feeling it. I'd
really
rather just hang out on Earth/nuVulcan. zzzzzz"
Way to ride the wave of any audience excitement about space exploration, folks
Also, shredding the Enterprise, again. And doing it before we've seen her actually be on her mission for more than the 60 seconds she was underwater in STiD.

But even after those three years they were still in Federation sector.
Good there was this convenient unknown nebula close to the glass snow ball space station that no one explored so far. (Yeah why check the neighbourhood where you want to build such a huge space station with lots of civilians)
So they had something to boldly go where no one went before except for the other crew.

Yeah this really irked me. We have this giant mysterious nebula which was literally next door to the giant Perplexus Maze (Google it for a laugh), but no one has been able to properly explore it until now. Yet when Kirk and Co. do it, they get through with ease.
