So, first there is only three options to choose from, besides title and year but then we realize there is a 'sub-type' that only appears after one click and then another click is required for the labyrinthine page to appear with a trillion or so options of which half are mandatory but only declared so after at least one click sometimes I wonder what kind of masochistic mindsets people need to have to go through that again and again at this point technology is surely making life more difficult, not less in comparison to physical paper bureaucracy

No, but they only want people to add title pages when they have enough information to meet the minimum requirements
That's why it seems so complicated to add a title page.
When you've done a few then you know what information is required and you can prepare it all in advance. Then adding a title page is much easier

I haven't found it to be all that difficult or troublesome, when I had adequate information to meet the requirements. Then again, I've only created one title, thus far. I didn't even think about how many "check these updates" clicks I had to do.

It's fairly simple, really. The only time I've ever had an issue with creating a page is with an obscure title in which its year of original release is unknown, and even that there are ways around. Although I do agree the "subtype" should appear on the previous page.
