I actually thought he had gotten the nod seeing all the hype and nominations he did get.
This film is so underrated and so educational. I really like his drive and will. The dialog is so risky but so intelligent. I actually always liked his relation with Nina. Though she is old, she is Rene Russo and I dont really think there isnt a man who wouldnt want to knock her rocks completely off! I actually really like that though they dont really devolve into it I feel he really liked her and got with her because he wanted her than what might appear as a career move. He couldve easily just bypassed by her for his career and easily just gone to other stations for bigger bucks. It wasnt never dwelled on but she low balled him at $250 when he couldve gone $300. As the story progressed he couldve easily brought this up but instead took it and clashed with her for bigger benefits when he couldve easily just gave her the kick. When he talked about her career survival it was a big sign of his care for her because he couldve just easily not give a ****. He actually helped her. I also liked how real the film is, for example how he gets her to sleep with her. It's almost like an extreme level of blackmail but I suppose most people sleep with each other based on a powerful lever. Just not usually seen in films. Though it was like an extreme level of blackmail. It really wasnt. She could've easily walked away. I think she was extremely attractive to him from the beginning but she was also extremely scared of him. Not only was he extremely attractive( Jake Gyllenhaal: In Extreme tip top shape), but he was also extremely smart, resourceful, and half her age as she clearly said. So when he came on to her. She had already thought about it and perhaps wanted to but as she said she didnt mix business with pleasure and she was highly aware of what kind of threat he was to her and it proved with this type of language and forcefulness. From the date to the the way he forced himself on her to then demanding they do what he wants how he wants in sex. Which I dont think I've ever heard a movie come close to talking like that or even couples talking like that. Though he's thought process and intellect was extremely refreshing and interesting in the movie. I dont think that it'll ever happen in real life or in movies again. It's really a great film with a lot of knowledgeable information used in anything in life. I highly recommended and it's highly rewatchable.
I think it's highly disappointing Jake didnt win for this and hasnt actually won multiple leading awards as I am very proud to say that I've always felt he is the best actor of our generation who has given countless top performances and quality films. At the very least this film should've been nominated for Best Actor, Director, Writer, screenplay, and producer. It had all the accolades being it both Commercial and independent. The fact that it was completely shuned for crap shows that not only is the Academies highly corrupt but that they also hate On Jake who is a completely exceptional once in a generation Talent!

can you explain to me why was he creepy?
How did he creep you out?
I think this part has been brought up before but to where they say this story is about the news and even it was the intention of the writer but to me this story is more about Lou. He takes over the movie and story. I wish they'd have a more extended version and dwelled more on him personally.

Perhaps your of higher wealth. I never saw him any different than what a lot of people do to make ends meet. I've actually seen far worst. He didnt make that much( to me it's not that much) which was a good premise of the story which makes sense why he did what he had to. To make it to the top to which he basically did in the end.
I dont understand it because to me he wasnt creepy.
I guess that part could be creepy but there was a lot of people in the film that were similar to which is why I wouldnt understand why he would stand out from the rest.
In the beginning he started out normal and with good intentions but he quickly learned and evolved to which I dont really think it's his fault he became this way.
