It Can't Be Ignored: The DCEU Is a "Mess"

For real. I can't see how even the most die-hard ardent fan of this can't at least feel a little bit worried right now.
I'm one of them - I liked BvS and consider to be a really good superhero film. I like Suicide Squad and found it enjoyable. But I'm not blind to what's going on. WB are really stumbling over themselves, announcing prematurely projects in the works that have little to nothing to do with their official lineup (Gotham City Sirens, Deadshot, Black Adam, Justice League Dark, etc.), the Flash losing two directors and getting a complete overhaul, and now The Batman not only having had months of rumors and worries come out, but now Ben Affleck steps down from directing it. Not that the rumors hold credibility, but now they are out there that he could potentially even quit the DCEU altogether.
This is a disaster. This is a mess. Whatever you want to call it, WB/DC are in serious trouble. They can't get their stuff together, they're making hasty decisions left and right, they can't get their films focused, and their "plan" is falling apart.
It's interesting to think now that everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is relying on the success or downfall of Wonder Woman. All eyes are on that project and if it doesn't deliver in spades, this universe is pretty much done for. Yes, that includes Justice League because being that it's still months apart, WB could easily pull a secondary Suicide Squad on us and order reshoots and whatnot in response to whatever negativity is generated from Wonder Woman.
It's sad. This universe HAS potential. Yeah, it has its share of flaws, but IMO it wouldn't take much to "right" the ship in a direction that would please at least a fair share of fans beyond the die-hards. But if WB keep flaying around, they might end up losing even more.
Hell, Aquaman is still on the line with a really good director in place and its due out next year. NEXT year and shooting hasn't even started yet.

The more negativity that surrounds these movies, the less likely they'll continue. And as a fanboy of DC, I want DC movies. I like what Marvel is doing just fine, but if you asked me to choose between seeing Infinity War or Man of Steel 2, I'd friggin choose Man of Steel 2, so this negativity has got to stop.

I don't think they'll quit. There will always be an audience for Batman/Superman. I think of other franchise's that have been surrounded in negativity and still been profitable.
And the negativity isn't going away. We've already seen that WB releases good movies and gets assaulted no matter what
Hasn't stopped them.

They'll never quit making Superman/Batman movies altogether. But the DCEU version can easily be "rebooted" either completely like Batman Begins was to the Schumacher Batman or "softly" like Superman Returns or Days of Future Past.
And seriously, let's face it; WB has been straying far from its "plan" that something is going on that's not good.

true
anything is possible
I'm just not personally worried, I think they have too many projects going and too much put into this so far to just give up.
I understand your concern is coming from a good place and not a sh-tty place of wishing for WB to fail like some haters lol
but until they have complete fantastic four level bomb failures I think they'll keep on keeping on as rocky as the reception and buzz is surrounding each film.
They're under Marvel's shadow from now on, a reboot won't change that
and they can't go the way of Sony and just hand over the rights to "DC Studios"

They have a lot of projects going on, but as we've seen, they're mostly on shaky ground. Cyborg is cancelled, Flash has undergone 2 directors and now a complete rewrite, Man of Steel 2 has been on the backburner for a while, Justice League Part II was canned in FAVOR of The Batman which has now lost Ben Affleck as its director (and has been undergoing a slew of negativity from Affleck himself who was unhappy with the script), Wonder Woman and JL are rumored to be "messes" (I don't buy into "rumors" much, but seeing as how other rumors of negativity are proving to be true, it's hard to completely deny their legitimacy), etc.
It's just strings of bad news after bad news and at a certain point (especially Affleck not directing), it just gets to be too much.
I want this universe to succeed. I want DC to have good movies so badly. I tire of the constant mockery and don't want to have to just live in a bubble to say "I like the DCEU". It's not that I need validation for my opinions - I can be the lone voice liking BvS just fine - but I enjoy sharing in the EXCITEMENT of something and to be honest, if these movies keep suffering BvS type fates, I don't think that will make WB too happy enough to invest more money into a failing universe.
I mean, Fantastic Beasts outgrossed Suicide Squad and almost matched BvS' worldwide gross, so it's not like WB needs to bank on the DCEU for a "franchise" anymore.

True, unlike Marvel which just sets out to make Marvel movies WB doesn't need to rely on DC based films tot sustain their own company, so they could shut it all down if they truly felt like it, and they would probably not be in any worse shape as they are now.

Meh could care less about the negativity.
That means that you care more about it than you would like to.
Whoever the retard was who started spreading the "could care less" epidemic, I would like to beat them about the head with a very large dictionary. -

That's great you're not worried.
You're the kind of boring automaton that would be just fine if we never get Brainiac or Metallo.
They could recycle Lex Luthor as a Superman villain 50 more times and you'd be OK with that. -

Yes! I really don't want to see this all come crashing down. Despite the questionable filmmakers involved, I don't think it's all worth losing a great cast (yes, I said great - even if they were nominated for razzies) for a reboot.

To be honest, I don't think they are rebooting. The thing is that as much as the studios would like a film to get positive response, there's only one thing that determines a franchises future: money. At the end of the day, as long as these movie continue to make the green, the DCEU isn't going anywhere. It's already made them 2.3 billion in 3 movies. All of the actors are locked in multi picture deals. What it does mean though, is that the DCEU will become the Transformers of the CBM genre. Financially successful but terribly recieved. And for the rest of the DCEU's run, I would rewatch MOS and BVS, longing for the days when they made good movies.

And honestly who's to say that a reboot will even be received better? People seem to be insanely hard to please when it comes to DC
They could recast/reboot AGAIN only to make another film that is divisive. There's a very high chance that could happen again since the market for comic book films is so damn competitive.
If they rebooted now, the comic book movie fad will probably die before they even get around to the inevitable Justice League team up film lol.
I really don't see how rebooting is worth the risk for WB at this point. The DCEU is already their second shot at the shared Universe when you consider Green Lantern their first failed attempt.

I agree 100%. The DCEU wouldn't survive a reboot. They are already playing catch up by 8 years. To reboot it would be a nightmare. I just hope that Wonder Woman and Justice League do well both critically and financially.

I'm not too hopeful when it comes to critical reception. It's become pretty clear to me that DC movies have become critics punching bag. They seem to enjoy getting extra critical when they watch DC movies.
And just give other films a pass.
Honestly.

Not really. It's just that when the main selling point is that you have a movie that is some kind of deep, transcendental experience in superhero movies, and has "serious themes" and so on, you're going to be judged on that.
And so far the DCEU has failed
spectacularly
on delivering those things.
The DCEU is like a kid putting on his daddy's pants, and demanding to be called a big boy.
