Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

    Dannysich — 9 years ago(December 12, 2016 10:38 PM)

I personally would have cut the run time in half and done away with the million useless side plots . Nothing happens the first 100 mins. Just introducing characters and a million side plots. I'd have it where superman is loved by the world and he's flat out just superman the Boy Scout . Lex Luther hates this. He saw what supermans power did it destroyed his business and destroyed half the city he sees him as a monster and a false prophet (quotes revelations chapter 13 about the beast with seven heads and ten horns and the the lamb who spoke as a dragon. Pretty much he's the false prophet lol) he goes and gets the kryptonite still from the Indian Ocean.
We don't redo batmans origin we know it. He's just being batman . Clark sees news of him watching tv one day and decides to investigate on the batman. He sees though petty crime has gone down in Gotham horrid criminals and crimes have risen all since batman first was spotted. He then finds batman one night and tells him his crime fighting days are done and to let him clean up Gotham. This leads to batman not trusting him and he after a meeting with lex Luther (both there business trade etc .) Bruce over here's lex talking about killing the alien so Bruce hacks his computers and finds where the kryptonite is and steals it. Which leads to lex now hating batman. Luckily lex took a bit of kryptonite already and starts building a suit made of it so he could kill both of them.
Wonder woman's role is small she is in town finding out more about this superman cuz she is interested in forming a team after the battle in MOS she feels like the earth needs more protection but she never gets the time to meet superman
We see batman build the suit and challenges superman to a fight. Superman comes and of course holds back but then batman releases the kryptonite on him and they fight evenly . Batman pins superman the same way like in the movie and raises the spear he made but misses on purpose superman also has a clear shot with his heat vision to kill batman but they both stop at the last minute both show they could have killed each other but decided not too . They earn a respect from this admitting to each other they don't kill . Hero's don't kill. A respect is earned. They go separate ways
the next night and explosion happens in Gotham both superman and batman rush to the scene . It was lex Luther drawing them in telling them all superhumans must die because (men are brave) they fight. Luther gets the upper hand and as he's about to kill superman and batman until Wonder Woman shows up. The tide then turns as she has no weakness to lex suit and the Trinity defeat Luther . As Luther is sent to prison . Wonder Woman ask both of them finally to join the team she plans to form . Superman agrees but batman denies but says he will always be here to help. The film ends with Bruce hacking lex computers again to find out he found the other superhumans on earth as well from police reports and many other reports . He sends it to Diana to see flash , green lantern , aquaman , and cyborg. Film ends.
Lois is reverted back to her normal role of just love interests in this film . No annoying side plot with her and getting kidnap over and over. Plus jimmy Olsen is alive.

Honestly, I'd just have made a sequel to MoS. No Batman, no Wonder Woman, no Justice League cameos or Batman dreaming about Flash. As for the story, it'd probably have been:

      • An adaptation of "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel" replacing the Batman section with a Metallo subplot. Though granted, that would have probably worked better if MoS had been more cheerful.
      • Clark and Lois trying to take down Intergang as investigative reporters. Make Intergang fund Metallo/Parasite/both, so that Supes has someone to fight, and add teases to Apokolips and the New Gods.

            Ditch the vs plot
Make the story more character driven
            Ditch man of steel
            Center it on friendship

First the whole "versus" aspect as the main focus would have to go. You could do it without making both heroes unreasonable and unlikeable, but I just don't think it's even that interesting at this stage.
From there on out you could do an interesting 'first meeting' story involving a lot of BvS's plot elements, but make it one that doesn't end with Doomsday and the "death" of Superman.

                1 -
                get rid of
Lex, WonderWoman, Martha, Death of the Waynes, Trollsday, dead Zod, Jolly Ranchers, Jar of piss, dingdingdingdingding, pseudo-intellectual theology for the uneducated, statue to Superman, any and all needless sub-plots.
2 - center the movie on: general perception of both Batman and Superman by the masses; perception of what the 2 main characters have of themselves and of the other.
3 - keep the concept of Batman witnessing Superman's fighting Zod and aftermath [Batman's perception of Superman] as a motivation to bring him down.
4 - make Superman investigate Batman's identity [being a real journalist for once]
5 - keep Lois and Jimmy as a helpers for the investigation without getting in the way, same thing with Alfred.
6 - Show Batman planning Supermans' takedown.
7 - Show Superman concern for Bruce's idea of Justice
8 - Extend the fight, emphasizing Batman's resourcefulness and idea of Justice.
9 - Make Superman convince Batman that he is not on Earth to do evil, neither he is the monster Bruce thinks he is, and show him that he himself hopes for the day people will see him as something they themselves can desire to become.
10 - Make them join and form the Justice League [end the movie with them searching for any Justice League member].
                Dormammu, I've come to bargain!

                  World Finest.
There is a confrontation but not to kill each other. It's Batman investigating Luthor and finding the Kryptonite and has it when Superman confronts him.
There is a fight, but not an all out brawl like it was in Frank Miller's book.
Batman assures Superman he is not a threat. And that they need to find out more about not only Luthor but the other metahumans.
They contact Diana for help. She doesn't need an introduction. She's an ambassador and have the Metahuman organization already established in the film.
Easier than Batman traveling the globe coping Nick Fury from Avengers.
Show Lex as he was in Last Son of Krypton.
To be honest I would never have killed Zod off.
