I'm confused by the rabbi and other character form of religious practice. The rabbi swears and have pre-marital sex without addressing the morality of it. Are not the leaders suppose to set an example?? I get they might practice some unorthodox or liberal view of Judaism, but it appears to lack any kind of moral standards relative to the Torah or Old Testament.
Everyone seems so confused and lost and it appears their religion or their lack of practice of it provides no comfort or compass. For it to be mentioned or shown so much, its confusing how it just appears to be more of a going through the motions application.
All of the characters behave like they should be forced into some type of mandatory therapy or counseling. In my opinion, not a single one is relatable or likeable. -

I wondered the same time and each episode I was waiting to see if it gets better addressed (I'm on Season 3). I did not binge watch so possibly I forgot over the past few years?
As for the family, I feel like maybe the thought is that every person in every family is "dysfunctional."
