as you said it yourself this show is nowhere near as good as TWD, but TWD went downhill in 7A so they are close now, FTWD has change for a improvement in season 3, season 2B was alright, but its something to watch when TWD is on break

Personally I think it's much better than the last season of TWD. Not better than the earlier ones but better than the last so yes I'll be watching.
