She just stood there like an idiot, dumbfounded as Lena turned the key.
On Smallville, they showed Clark in slow-mo getting out of situations like that all the time, and he's supposed to be less powerful than Kara.

      Smallville was a better show.

IKR? She lands and says "Don't do it Lena" and then watches her do it instead of just super speeding the key away from her in the first place.
Or, better yet, why didn't she just destroy the rocket launcher instead of landing to talk about it.

          Yup.
She could have destroyed it with her heat vision too.

Of all the powers that Kryptonians are meant to possess, I feel like Kara drastically underuses Super speed. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Clark (the Smallville version) probably would've given her the chance to do the right thing, but would've stopped her before the key was turned - while he was at it, he would've rendered them both unconscious. Supergirl could've arrived just after the key was turned, and then it would've worked fine. It was a badly planned, poorly thought-out sequences, that's all. It happens.

Isn't Supergirl supposed to be faster than Superman but worse at turning while flying?
or was that from something else?

i think that was with the flash and superman. superman is as fast as flash, topspeed. but flash can turn around on the spot and then go topspeed almost immediately in the new direction. superman needs some time to get to topspeed and only can do it while flying. also he cant really just change direction without loosing a lot of speed.

No, no, it was definitely Supergirl and Superman. I just don't remember in which continuity.
As for Supes being as fast as the Flash yeah. No.
While the tv show does a piss-poor job at showing it, the Flash is actually a lot faster than any kryptonian. By several orders of magnitude.
And this is true for both Barry Allen, and pre-Flashpoint Wally West.

There was a comic a little while back where the Flash was going to go do something that Superman didn't want him to do. Supes was running right next to the Flash, trying to convince him. And he said something to the effect of "I'm just as fast as you, we've raced before." At which point Barry said "That was for charity, Clark".and left him in the dust.

I enjoyed Smallville, and was a huge fan of it, but I think people vastly overestimate how TV show writers work. 🙂
For reference, remember how badly Darkseid was done on Smallville? 🙂
I think realistically speaking, Supergirl wouldn't use her super speed to stop Lena because like Superman, she has the whole naive belief of people being good.
Seriously, that's Superman's biggest weakness. His ability to believe in the good side of people. No matter who that may be.
Heck, he could have stopped Lex from becoming President, but he waited, and did nothing, because he doesn't want to push his power on the world.
He, like Supergirl, do not want to become Tyrants.
I am a man with Asperger's Syndrome, so please forgive me if my posting seems weird.

Yeah, I watched all of the first season of smallville and liked it a lot. Then I basically missed the next couple of seasons for one reason or another. Then got back into it for like the final 3.
I was shocked to see how silly and bad the show had become. With the other super heroes that would show up with costumes from party city. Every villain I saw was a shadow or a specter or some variation of a classic villain. They were like possessing spirits so that they could be played by actual human actors instead of CGI. and then they'd show up for half a second in some variation of their original form. Clark would run fast, push them, and the fight would be over.
I didn't like supergirl at first. The first few episodes were slow and uninteresting; but that's any show really. I got hooked about halfway through season 1 though. Right now I think it's the best of the CW super hero shows (gotham beats them all) But they fluctuate in quality. Arrow was the best in the beginning, flash has a strong start and steadily declined, gotham started off as relatively bad then did a quick turnaround and is pretty fantastic now, supergirl started iffy then got great (but next season could be awful. who knows) Legends is kind of all over the place, never taking itself too seriously, but this season so far is better overall than last season. They sreamlined it; they need to get Rip back though.
I'm just happy we have all these shows. I do miss constantine though. Make him be a legend for a season or something at least.

I thought that was poor writing and timing as well. She had more than enough time to stop Lena. There were a couple easy fixes for this. The key was already in the slot and her hand was already on it when SG arrived - SG may not have been fast enough to stop a flick of the wrist. Or, it could have been shown that SG was in on the deception.
As it is, I will also chalk it up to a lack of experience. Kara has spent many years not using her powers and ignoring them. She just may forget what she can do at times. Kind of like how it took me entirely too long to remember, consistently, that I could take video and pictures on my cell-phone. I would always recall what my phone could do after the fact. I was always missing things I wish I would have caught and kicking myself for failing to remember, at the right time, that I had cool gadgets on my phone. I know it is totally different but kind of the same.
