One long movie. Most movies try to pack a whole huge story into 100 mins or so. I think if they try to make this story into just 1 movie it wouldn't be as good, it would feel rushed.
For example I think if they made each of the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings books into 10 episodes instead of 1 movie for each book it would be way more of a magical experience. I understand due to budgets and stuff like that it would be impossible, but I think id enjoy those stories as motion pictures much more. -

Yeah it felt like a really good Stephen King novel made into a 6 and half hour mini series that actually covered the entire book rather than missing out chunks because no one's going to sit through a 6 and half hour movie. Hell even Stephen King said "watching STRANGER THINGS like watching Stephen King's greatest hits. I mean that in a good way"
It also didn't do what a lot TV network shows do and use filler episodes or cheap tricks to pad out an episode like "previously on ".
It used every second well and given they had no idea they'd get a second series ended it in a way that could work as a one off but still leave the audience with some nice hooks into future episodes. -

yes I agree. I hate shows that have filler episodes just to make it last another week. I like seeing back stories and side quests but some shows use it to much. This show was straight to the point. Continued the flow of the story without stopping, which is why I feel like its just a long movie.

And talking of avoiding filler episodes and such

They even get to choose how long each episode is so they don't even need to have filler scenes. So much creative freedom. -

yea I love how Ross said when talking about amount of episodes
"if it gets much longer, it could become unwieldy and just turn into a traditional show- which is what were avoiding"
love that about this show
Matt even says he wants the show to feel like a movie because he mainly watched movies growing up not TV. Awesome -

Agreed. Pacing is perfect. Feels like a long/movie book. But it also feels like a TV series too, benefiting from good cliffhangers. So yeah, a novel. I think this could be the future of adapting popular novels.
