Uncircumcised Plot Point…..really?

They've now posted the whole scene, with such charming lines as
Amy: What if I get someone who is not circumcised?
Kiki: Run out of the room screaming. It's like finding a gun in the street. Just scream and get out of there!
Carla: No way, you guys. Uncut guys are great!!
Kiki: Really?
Carla: Oh they're just so nice to you because they know their dicks are gross.
You don't think that's insulting? -

It's not consideratte to consider that normal, healthy, functional anatomy is "gross".
Switch the sexes: if cutting female genitals were commonplace (never mind the severity, we're talking about the social aspect) would this dialogue be "considerate"?
Carl: No way, you guys. Uncut gals are great!!
Kiko: Really?
Carl: Oh they're just so nice to you because they know their flaps are gross. -

Look at the lines as written, switch the sexes, we're not talking about the horrible things they do in Africa (baby girls are cut minimally by doctors in Indoneisa in the name of Islam and it has nothing to do with "preventing women from expressing their sexuality", in fact it's the mothers to take them to the doctors).
As it happens, male genital cutting has always had an underlying purpose of curbing male sexuality. It was introduced to the US to thwart or punish masturbation.
Now, as I was saying, the script as performed body-shames men with whole genitals in a way that would
never
be acceptable if it were talking about women.
All that is visible must grow beyond itself

Whether or not that's true, there are actually some health benefits. That is not true with FGM.
As for body shaming, no it doesn't. Hahn talks about how great uncut men are & demonstrates the best way on how to handle them.
Now, if Bell said it was gross & hahn agreed, then yes it would be body shaming. -

The health benefits are exaggerated when they are not completely bogus (and nobody knows whether FGC has exactly the same "benefits" as MGC, because it would be unethical and illegal to do the experiment) but that's changing the subject. Nobody mentions health benefits in the movie.
Hahn says not just that whole genitals are "gross" but that whole men are grateful because we "know" they are gross. (It's called "damning with faint praise") It's BS as well as shaming. It's like saying black people are grateful to their slaveowners because they know they are inferior. (That's an analogy: don't take it off on a tangent.)
And Hahn's demonstration is absolutely wrong and would cause us pain, if not damage. The scene does NO service to whole men. -

Exactly. If the genders were reversed, it wouldn't be funny at all.
It kind of reminds me of when Sharon Osbourne laughed at the man who had his penis cut off by his wife, and thrown into the garbage disposal just because he wanted a divorce. Osbourne described the story as "quite fabulous", making light of the incident, causing the audience to laugh and applaud.
Now, reverse the situation: it's a man who assaults his wife in the same manner because she asked for a divorce. He's a monster, right? Right.
I know I may be reaching with this comparison, but you get what I'm saying.
That's why that joke isn't funny, because the reverse scenario would have never even made it into the script. -

There are zero benefits to being circumcised.
You should also rewatch the scene as you obviously completely got it wrong. What she said was the equivalent of the joke fat women are great because they're more grateful for the sex as they're ugly and gross, how you could ever consider that a complement is baffling. Whilst the scene didn't bother me the other posters are correct all the women made fun of men being natural and that would be completely unacceptable to make fun of a women because she hadn't had her vagina circumcised at birth. -

Wow, you're not that bright, are you?
She says uncut men are great, and then follows up with that initial comment by saying it's because they know they are gross.
What kind of a moron considers that a compliment? My goodness, just admit you're wrong on this subject a move on! So many narcissistic people these days, holy crap. -

No, you're right, circumcision isn't generally performed in the U.S by Islamic doctrine. Instead it is performed under the guise of dubious medical recommendations and social conformity from clinics and hospitals who are involved in the industry of selling those bits of skin to research companies for tissue testing. At least parents who are eager to have the procedure performed who don't want their son to be poked at for fun know a bit of their child's dick went to a greater cause helping line the pockets of flesh merchants.
Money, rank commerce and capitalism, a very American reason to have your child circumcised.
I actually thought that scene was one of the more amusing ones in an otherwise dull comedy. It showed how those soccer moms were clueless. -

Did you stop watchng movies in the 1950s? You won't hear jokes about nggrs or kks or rtrds or fggts or dks or btchs any more. Sorry. You can call it "political correctness" if you want, or just respect for members of those groups in the audience.
And far from being "off limits", men with whole genitals have long been right in the bullseye for US popular culture. www.circumstitions.com/TVSitcoms.html -

No, apparently you stopped watching movies and comedians altogether, if you think there are no more black jokes or gay jokes, or that they stopped saying retard or bitch.
And who cares? All my friends are uncircumcised and they always make jokes about circumcision, should I go cry to my mummy? Maybe to the government? -

I just saw the trailer and raised my brow at the same thing. As if the movie didn't look pathetically terrible enough, the writers feel it necessary to make an outdated, ignorant joke about something that's completely natural
The makers of the film are in need of some extra brain cells, I'm afraid.
