    I do not idolize ChurchillI have studied him, and history, for too long, not to recognize that how he saved Britain (and, by extension, the entire western world) was not through any military genius (as he liked to posture himself), but by sheer bluster and bravado.
    Churchill did not "save" Britain. Hitler never wanted war with England in the first place and after Dunkirk repeatedly offered peace terms. All Britain needed to do to "survive" was to agree. Instead, Churchill continued a war effort that "won" Britain nothing more than massive debt and the senseless death of a half million of their own citizens.
