The market leader Netflix takes a pioneering role.
The new movie
"The Electric State"
is still something special.
With a budget of a whopping $320 million, it's the most expensive Netflix production of all time.
Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt face a Robot uprising.
"The Electric State"
is a mixture of science fiction, drama, comedy and adventure story.
It's based on the graphic novel of the same name by Swede Simon Stålenhag.
The dystopian book is set in an alternate reality after a devastating war. At the center of the touching plot is a young girl who's assured by a toy robot that it knows her missing brother. To find the boy, the two travel together through the destroyed United States. Flashbacks repeatedly interrupt the action.

When will
"The Electric State"
be released?
There were repeated delays, the first announcement for the movie dates back to 2017.
At that time, the Russo brothers acquired the film rights and sold them to Universal Pictures three years later. The rights later went to Netflix.
Principal photography began in fall 2022, but had to be interrupted due to the fatal accident of a crew member. The official filming finally ended in February 2023. Re-shoots were necessary afterwards.
The release on Netflix is now planned for March 14, 2025.

This looks kind of decent.
"main character is a woman"
Well Chris Pratt might be able to save it.
Or the Robot.
