Around the world, between one in 17000/20000 people are albinos. The prevalence in parts of Africa, however, is far higher than the global average. Albinos make up about 1 in 5000 in Nigeria and 1 in 4000 people in South Africa. According to a 2006 review the prevalence in Tanzania is one in 1,400.
Dwarfism is around 1 in 40000 of any given population.
The population of the Kingdom of Wakanda is estimated to be around six million. This means there should be around 150 dwarves. Just going by the world's average least likely ratio, and not taking into account the higher frequency found in Africa, this would mean there would be around 300 albinos in Wakanda.
Going by most of the examples we have seen in the original movie it seems that Wakandans are typically tall and dark. This suggests to me that people of short stature or lacking melanin would be ostracised from groups with strong social capital and be likely to form a codependent existence on the fringes of society in an area the equivalent of a ghetto. Being in such close proximity over generations increases the chance of interbreeding between these groups giving a higher chance of there being an albino dwarf community.
I'm asking because the Sultan of Yogyakarta, Hamengkubuwono X, on the Indonesian island of Java,
keeps a posse of albino dwarves at his court for luck
. Wakanda being the elevated society that it is would likely not try an exploit albino dwarves for superstition but rather apply positive discrimination to break the shackles of ridicule often associated those who suffer from height discrimination and the wrath of the sun's rays. While the albino dwarf community might share a geographical location and history some of them would be visible in society to make sure everyone understands that egalitarianism and representation is the best method for a healthy society.
Judging from the world statistics, real world example and my postulating that Wakanda is a superior society; do you think we'll see any albino dwarf Wakandans in the sequel?
Ding Dong
