Any Tips for Inexpensive, Healthy Eating?

I got some potato salad and macaroni salad.
Hmm? Let’s see here Christina. First off, eating healthy for you, means avoiding things, that while they may be healthy for most, they’re not for you. Meaning avoiding foods that are loaded with carbohydrates, such as potato and macaroni salad. Refer back to that link that I left at your site. But here are a few suggestions.
Breakfast: An omelet is a good choice. Maybe cut up some peppers, vegetables, avocados, add some cheese, etc. I got one of those omelet makers from Amazon, and it works great. 5 minute omelets.
Lunch: Maybe a sandwich. Make it on a low carb piece of flat bread (Really a cracker) or even better, a low carb wrapper (It looks like a tortilla) Even better still, is to roll the lunch meat up in a cabbage or lettuce leaf.
Dinner: A big, filling, salad. Maybe a chicken salad. Go light on the dressing, unless it’s oil and vinegar. You can get low carb salad dressing, but in my opinion, it tastes like crap. I’d rather just use less of the regular stuff.
Salmon, Mackerel, and nuts (Not peanuts, which are really a legume) are great healthy fats. So are avocados. Instead of using sour cream, replace it with plain yogurt.
But this is not my area of expertise. There others here, such as Lilith, that can probably provide much better advice.

— 4 years ago(April 11, 2021 10:08 PM)The food at the grocery store is not all that gourmet. Maybe, Whole Foods has the kinds of things you refer to. I'm moving to a group home at the beginning of May. I wonder how I will eat then. Also, I have Hello Fresh.
When we moved, they didn't sell things I was attached to, like wraps, smoothies, pita bread that tasted good. I was a health nut.

You can even eat eggs once in a while, a few times a week (not daily, because of your high cholesterol)
Ahh. Actually, I was not aware of the high cholesterol situation. Which is why I suggested that she would probably be better off listening to you, rather than I

Maybe they will have a group garden. You should suggest it if they haven't thought of it already.

She may be trying to help you pack the more important items that you will need. No doubt she just wants you to be prepared.
