FOLLIES should have won Best Musical, that's for sure. I'm still not over my shock over its losing to TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, a show that is hardly the legendary work that FOLLIES is.
In
my
case, self-absorption is
completely
justified. -

Just my opinion of course
Best Musical
2011: Sister Act
2004: Wicked
Sister act no, Wicked really no (Caroline or Change should of really won that year)
Leading Actress in a Musical
2011: Patina Miller, Sister Act
2009: Allison Janney, 9 to 5
Well I take anyone other than Foster so yes to Miller, but hell no Janney. Alice Ripely gave one of the best performances of the decade in Next to Normal and totally deserved the award.
1964: Barbra Streisand, Funny Girl
Well it seems like an obvious yes, but it's a bit more complex when you remember it was Carol Channing in Hello Dolly who won, but still Barbra is iconic in for Funny Girl
.
2004: Wicked Stephen Schwartz
Caroline or Change should of won, simple as.
1998: The Lion King Elton John, Hans Zimmer, Tim Rice, Julie Taymor, Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Jay Rifkin
Nope all Elton John musicals are incredibly mediocre score wise- And the Lion King is possibly one of the most overrated musicals (and films) of all time. It's not that great people.

Best Score
1998: The Lion King Elton John, Hans Zimmer, Tim Rice, Julie Taymor, Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Jay Rifkin
1994: Beauty and the Beast Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice
Yes.
Best Musical
1974: Gigi
Best Score
1982: Dreamgirls Henry Krieger and Tom Eyen
1976: Chicago John Kander and Fred Ebb
Maybe. Individually, a lot of the songs of DREAMGIRLS and CHICAGO are good, but overall, they're too similar to one another. That makes both shows (and movies) feel repetitive.
Best Musical
1958: West Side Story
No. It's so overrated! -

The wins for SISTER ACT I would say no. That year had 3 superior musicals nominated: The Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can and Scottsboro Boys. I LOVE Sister Act and Patina is my girl, but it was the weakest of the three!
The rest are very strong! Although, I was not around for most of these seasons, so I really can't say!!
FYC: Cumberbatch, Jones, Knightley, Simmons
