Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Pets and Animals

    Spider-man⠀ — 6 years ago(May 11, 2019 04:04 AM)

It would be similar to a retirement home, except for animals, primarily dog and cats. Although bunnies and gerbils and other furry friends are welcome. It would be funded by the state government and donations.
Cats over 15+ years and dogs over 10+ years would be welcome here to finish out their lives. This would be for senior animals who don't have homes, whether abandoned by their caretakers, or their caretakers died (I refrain from using the word "owner").
Unlike a shelter or adoption facility, the animals would be free to roam throughout a large space of indoor (and outdoor) property.
Cats would have a large gymnasium-like structure full of obstacles, mazes, and tunnels, they could climb and play through. There'd be a big padded memory foam section they could rest and sleep on.
There'd be a little tunnel on the ceiling that leads over the dogs side: dogs won't be able to reach this or fit through, so cats who get along with dogs can enter the dogs' side at their own convenience while cats who are scared of dogs can turn back.
The cats would have a caged-off outdoor area that they could come and go as they please, and have all the freedom of being outside without escaping the property. There'd be a large deep sandbox of kitty litter outside they could use, the size of a pond, and it'd clean itself.
The dogs would have a doggy door that leads to a huge fenced-in outdoor area: the door would seal itself when not in use as to not let the A/C or heat out, and for double protection, there could be 2 sections, first doggy door leads to a patio, then another one, to ensure heat/AC is kept in. There'd lots of property full of hills, streams to run through - that they could use as they please, without anyone having to let them out to use the bathroom. The poop could be collected and recycled into compost - to use for their own property: the dog's poop creates the soil it poops on!
There would be a vet on staff there at all times, and a staff there 24/7 to play with the animals. People would be free to volunteer there and take the dogs for walks, and cuddle time with le old felines.
Would you support your taxes funding this?
    Yes!

That's a really lovely idea, but I don't like its chances.

You should work on getting yourself a place instead of living with your parents in your mid 30s, and let the pet owners keep taking care of their elderly pets. I would not be willing to support you with my tax dollars though.

i think integrating retirement communities with animal rescue facilities would be a better idea.
