Roblox chat age groups are now enforced globally following a mandatory age check rollout that began on January 7, 2026. Users are assigned to one of six age groups based on facial age estimation or ID verification:
Under 9
9 to 12
13 to 15
16 to 17
18 to 20
21+
so you have to verify your age to get access to your age group. you can't chat with people outside of your group. you can play in the same game world, but you won't see each other's chat messages.
therefore it's quite difficult to prey on kids in roblox
there was 17 year old girl where I live that was groomed online by a 39 year old man in a video game and these kind of rules might have saved her had they been in effect sooner
