Thank you, Anna! Watching now and it so feels like a TCM movie with film quality and the angle of the camera at the top of the stairs in just the first few minutes. Got to remind myself it's not.

House of the Devil? They released it on the old VHS format to add to the nostalgia of the movie.
His other movie Cabin Fever 2 I really want that song played in the bathroom at school.

I watched on my 60" Samsung last night after briefly watching the opening yesterday.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Boogie Nights meets Dead Dudes in The House with some 1 percent Blue Velvet, 1 percent Blood Diner/Toxic Avenger, 1 percent Exorcist, 2 percent Jaws
From the trailer I thought the lead was going to be someone familiar but no. He's like Matthew McChanahana mixed with Scott Backula.
The lead actress' freckles reminded me of The Good Guy doll's freckles.
TI's direction is exceptional. The lake scene will make your heart race guaranteed.
