Oh, there isn't a lot of scenery that tops the beauty of Highway 101. That's the same highway that Adrienne Barbeau drove her Volkswagon beetle along in "The Fog". At least I think it is. Breathtaking.

I came late to
Foul Play
, perhaps in the early 00's sometime. I was never big on comedy movies in my earlier stage, with a few exceptions like
Tootsie, Porky's, Blues Brothers, Elvira….
I was very picky.

Oh man that made me LOL!
I see what you did there and I love it!
Well done mate.
Yeah, you don't wanna kiss the pavement while Marv sits there driving in comfort.

I voted for Goldie, but this one is a hard call, because they both had cute as a button girlish looks at the start of their careers. Goldie appears to have aged to be a bit more plastic looking though, but that would be extensive cosmetic.

Yes, the picture that Honky-Tonk Parade posted of Sally Field was so dang cute. I liked Sally until she went serious actress, Sybil notwithstanding. I liked her in that.
I think Sally must have better genes, too. She aged better than Goldie.
But there aren't too many women/girls cuter than Goldie was in the 70s. "Foul Play" is what I like her best in. I can do without Chevy Chase and wasn't cheering for Hawn to hook up with him. Irl, Chevy Chase is a major asshole. I don't know if you ever caught the interview with Dame Edna, but CC can't stand that she is funnier than he is and you can see him actually getting pissed off with Dame Edna doing her comedy schtick. He obviously has a very high opinion of himself.

I did watch a CC one with Edna the other week. He seemed quite reserved to me and I took it as him not wanting to upstage her being her show. I don't know how many he did with the Dame.
I had a little teen boy crush on Chase in the early 80's. The first movie I saw him in was
Vacation - '83
.

I didn't used to have a problem with him. But now I think he is a huge jerk.
The DE episode I saw he said something like "A good talk show has a host who lets her guests speak." Then Dame Edna says without missing a beat "Well, that's one theory!" The audience cracked up and so did I. CC was shooting daggers. Johnny Carson didn't like him, either. Carson said that "Chevy Chase couldn't ad lib a fart after eating a can of baked beans." Ha ha!

Yes, that is the one I saw I think.
Chase was perhaps more about smug antics and a persona of appearing funny, than real quick and witty retort and jabs.

The fact that he got visibly annoyed when Dame Edna was being funny and only doing her usual thing to me shows that CC really doesn't have a sense of humor. Like you say, he is coming from a place of ego.
