                      While I can't be certain, the first movie intro before the titles may have been
                      Frankenstein
                      (1931) when Edward van Sloan came from behind the curtain and warned the audience what they were going to see could be disturbing.
                      Dracula
                      , released a few months before closed with a curtain speech (again van Sloan) lifted from the original stage play. Apparently, it no longer exists.
                      Amadeus
                      had a particularly strong opening scene with the discovery of Salieri's attempted suicide.
