We might have gotten it later in the 90s but by then I wasn't really interested anymore. MUCHMUSIC was great though and my parents would complain that I was watching it too much. I recently bought a book on the history of it.

Oliver Stone films in general. Stone was a rare voice of sanity in 80's Hollywood (and he still is a voice of sanity) calling out the greed, materialism, and "me me me" mentality of the Reagan era. When other directors were cashing in on Reagan-era jingoism and militarism with trash films like Rambo and Red Dawn, Stone was making films that criticized war, greed and US imperialism (Platoon, Salvador, Wall Street).
