It's a good story but I imagine a difficult one to film. Apparently it's been optioned/owned/in-development since first published.
But I think the ideas that made it so good in the 1970s will no longer seem original whilst changes over the long duration of the story will promote strong reactions these days. Incels will be delighted by the earlier parts of the book whilst there will be great lamentations and gnashing of furious teeth from the anti-woke brigade about the culture in the latter stages.
But I imagine those aspects would fade away during the script writing stage and we'll be left with a not particularly original looking Starship Trooper or Above And Beyond rehash.
I have always depended on the kindness of Strangers - and the bastards let me down!
