Nah, I saw that a thread on the subject of Batman's next opponent in a movie get to the top of GD and clicked on it. The thread was from the old scrap of IMDb, had a recent reply or two, and so found its way onto GD.
Wondering if that was something that happened after the servers crashing today I gave sinister's copy of Taud's incredibly reminiscent of my original (Which is missing) thread a bump but sadly no
The other Batman thread was on a main board called Superheroes and Villains and so must operate differently from movie legacy posts
Still, always nice to visit times when the Lovers thought they had a chance of success

I am not, was not and will never be Taudarian Dazed
He even admitted to posting his "Prometheus, the movie they say makes sense" thread hours after I'd posted a very similar thread on the boards that day. He clearly put a lot of time into his and I'd spent longer than I should have into mine.
I don't think he or I would work hard over working smart
Plus, did you get any of that hermeneutics stuff he was into? I mean it sounded like it was based on something well thought out (Like Kaskait's elemental magic stuff) but I could never find it cited anywhere.
Crazy
but the good kind of crazy

β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 05:08 PM)I honestly didn't talk to him much. He had mostly disappeared by the time I got there. Sploiter/strangeler/sinister/shart used to regularly bump this post.
I didn't find kaskait interesting on any level, in fact I think she was yet another mentally ill loon. -
Phaenon β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 05:19 PM)
Kaskait was more interesting, to me at least, because she attempted to put something together to show why she thought Prometheus was an elevated cinematic event attempting to do something more than just tell a simple story on the screen.
I'm not saying she's right by any stretch but she gave it a swing which is a lot more than anyone else from that side ever did.
Taud was on the side of angels, and I'm not just being a cheeky boy when saying that. He just remembered that Satan and all of his gang were angels too and from there it went into the most atheistic mindset with huge swaths of biblical archetypes for stories to work presented in almost every successful movie. He could turn the first two Lethal Weapon movies into profound legacies of particular parts of the bible and, just when you thought he was absolute barkers, could present returns to the same out there notions that you'd need to be blind and squint to see in other parts of the story or series.
But with Prometheus he just saw a big pile of wank

β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 05:59 PM)She was most definitely on your side, iirc she hated the film and was mostly concerned with SRS and the Alchemy imagery giving him a successful film. Her predictions for A:C were completely off mind you and it's a shame we didn't get to see her eat her words.
She also had some crackpot ideas about Harry Potter, that if you thought he was a hero you were the kind of person who enjoyed torture in real life. That's just insanity of the Gleamy Jog/Shutter Island variety.
She was also pretty horrible to Beja and myself too but you may have missed that. -
Phaenon β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 06:11 PM)
I didn't know that she was ****ty to you and Beja, that upsets me!
I don't know anything about Harry Potter and while it is all about magic and stuff it seems Jakey Rowling's retconning it all these days anyway and bringing it more in line with contemporary political correctness.
Alchemy! That's the thing she talked about. Yeah, I think she was either really onto something which somehow didn't come to pass or a proper case of delusions which she could reinforce using story templates known to be successful as proof.
I always thought she loved Prometheus, just thought that it would be built upon. Something about David andβ¦Shaw becoming husband and wife (Or whatever).
Anyways I'm sorry that I didn't detect her being mean to you and Beja. I have no problem tutting and telling people off for being uncivil. Perhaps she planned it for weekends so as to get minimal attention from me being in a pub somewhere.
You watched Picard yet?

β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 06:25 PM)Meh, it's water under the bridge, she insinuated that we ran to the males on the board for support when things got tough, which was amusing in many ways
Remember that kukapetal girl? She had a real thing about you!
Yes she said David was to fall in love with Shaw, to be fair she may have been right that SRS intended that but had a change of heart. Sadly we didn't get to see Shaw again, assuming David murdered her (psychotic robot alert)
Yes I watched Picard, I posted in your thread. You mean the Freecloud episode? -
Phaenon β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 06:42 PM)
Yeah the Freecloud episode. I'll go look seeβ¦yup, replied to it too have I.
I've got to watch that Winter drinking, stronger than the Summer stuff, makes you want to pee almost immediately when you go outside and you start earlier because it's dark outside.
Perhaps I might have saw Kaskait saying something like you and Beja were looking for male protection and so made a point of saying nothing about it to show her that she's talking ****e on that point?
I don't remember though, but I've no probs telling, and being told, off
people for stepping into tricky territory.
Kukapetal, ah yes I remember her. I think I had the equivalent of a virtual threesome with her and some other lass out in public on one of the popular boards we both happened to be on. I'm not at all a fan of electronic intimacy with strangers but if it gets a rise out of others then so be it (Hence why I'm not a fan of PMs) and let all see it. Gas masks, leather and writing fan fiction were her thing if I recall correctly. I hope she's still doing her brand of crazy and got her kinks out of the way - best done early on from my experience

I'm sticking by my guns that on the Internet people can be anything they want to be. And who anyone you chooses to be is an exaggeration of their best self.

If I had suitors I never wanted them or encouraged them!
The one guy that puzzled me a huge amount was Psydoodle, do you remember him? I think he was an extremely troubled soul and I had a few PMs from him suggesting that he was in trouble with drinking and suicidal thoughts. He just disappeared and I always wondered if he was okay. I hope he just stepped away from the internet and got help, he was smart and very funny on the boardβ¦so surprisingly sad.

Phaenon β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 07:13 PM)
Yes, Psydoodle was a very witty poster
I never got the vibe from him about suicidal thoughts but we all hide them as best we can when they surprise us with their existence (Well most of us). I guess he felt connected to you enough to say them out loud, as it were, which can be a good way of overcoming them. I hope what he wrote wasn't to weird for you - again another reason why I'm adverse to PMs.
I sometimes think about folk like ShatteredBlueDreams or BB-18 and wonder how they are doing. IMDb was more than just a large discussion board for movies, TV and those who make that all happen; it was a sanctuary for lost souls and those who try to help or tease them.
As for your potential suitors who you didn't want nor encourage, have you seen Succession ?
It's got the original Doctor Lecktor in it and his CEO at one point has to make sure that Macaulay Culkin's little brother is stable and capable of doing his job.
Interesting stuff

β 6 years ago(February 24, 2020 07:27 PM)I'm definitely coming round to the no PM policy! I think lots of silly plotting goes on via PM or else insecure types announce that they've sent them to the entire board suggesting something interesting and secretive is happening. You know what I mean? Why announce it, since the recipient can actually see that they have a message!
The
Anyway, Psy, well I wasn't disturbed so much as helpless. But I did feel that he may have told me things and then regretted that he had, there was always a feeling that was the case, as if he spilled it out whilst drunk but sobered up and wished he hadn't. It was possible that he hadn't come to terms with his sexuality but that was only hinted at so I don't know.
I was just thinking of Shattered! Remember how he used to type up about 10 replies and then post them all at the same time
Poor BB, they were harmless and endlessly patient and respectful. I hated when some troll used mass reporting to have their flaws thread deleted.
As for your potential suitors who you didn't want nor encourage, have you seen Succession ?
I haven't, so not sure what you're getting at! -

Grab a copy if you can, it's the best TV we've had since The Wire
Remember how he used to type up about 10 replies and then post them all at the same time
I was impressed with him on that front. I did it for around two weeks before him, always making sure that they were detailed replies or threads that were thought out and held both sides of the argument to account. I think I did it because I would come back to over ten replies all filled with particulars and going through them one by one would only make the backlog longer from replies in the meantime. Having proved my point in overloading those objecting to me in bulk my opponents replies would be more concise and less often; after all we've all got to eat, sleep, drink and pee.
When SBD started doing it as standard I couldn't have been more proud. For such an apparent lost soul they had imitated and therefore found mentorship (At least in my head) which meant they were bettering themselves. I really would have gotten further into his relationship with his brother over time but some things can't be rushed and there's no chance now.
So do you think He_Cant is The Mechanic or multiple socks over here?

Are you wriggling out of telling me what you meant?!
I'm not great at reading subtext (that's why I didn't get Prometheus). I'm more of a call a spade a spade type (looks nervously around for that Wilson guy from Moviechat), so whatever it isβ¦say it!
