That's mired in mystery Taud
Some say he went by the name Juan, there's a lot of confusion going around to just who that is exactly
Lol, I see.
I should post some more of my hermeneutics stuff somewhere. I see someone started a thread trying to say my points re Prometheus were wrong and they said I was mistaken to say that the movie is about religion based on the opening.
Except what you're seeing in the opening is pure Sumerian mythology. The supreme gods of the Sumerians were the Annunaki, and they used to loaf around in palaces drinking gin and eating peeled grapes all day. They had below them a race of lesser gods, known as the Igigi, who used to do all the hard labour. Stuff like digging canals and building and stuff. Except one day one third of the Igigi got pissed off and downed tools. "We ain't putting up with this crap anymore" they told the Annunaki. So the Annunaki ruminated and came back with "Fine, make us some replacements and you lot can bugger off". So the Igigi drew straws and one of them, a chap called Geshtu or Geshtu-E, drew the shortest straw. So he had to die and mix his blood with river clay and create man.
This is literally what you're watching at the beginning of Prometheus. You're watching Geshtu take one for the team and make man, hence why it's such a big deal later in the film that there's a 100% DNA match between us and them. Also, in comparative mythology is considered the counterpart to ….. wait for it…. wait for it….. the Greek Prometheus! Gee, who'da ****ing guessed? (Well, me, because I've studied this ****). AAAAANNNNDDDDD wait for it, wait for it…. BOTH Geshtu and Prometheus are considered the counterparts of the fallen angel Azazel of the Book of Enoch, who rebelled with one third (there's that fraction again just as with the Igigi) of the angels.
So when I say it's about religion I'm just spitting facts. That's ENTIRELY what it's about.
Still doesn't make it a good film though, even when you know what Ridders is doing. -

I'd be all for that kind of story Taud
Really, what's imagination good for if not telling tall tales and stupefying accepted realities?
But when they had the temperature be 2.725 K, dodgy carbon dating, imperial measurement systems over metric ones, half a billion miles from Earth, over 200 billion miles, the same heartbeat on their suit monitors despite their emotional states, the juggernaut's orientation after crashing onto the planet, Shaw's gloves and "The Ladder", 5 dots on tablet sprawled across the globe over millennia somehow pointing to a star system somewhere in the galaxy, helmets off, xenophobic xenophile, male only medpod, Windows 7 on displays, evolution and mutation thrown out the window, electrifying a head without quarantine conditions in check…the list goes on.
And that's before we get to the trapdoor theory and everything else
I really thought I'd be among many when I said "Is this some sort of comedy?", but alas no
It was solely for the anointed in that magical intellect that dare not justify itself
Sort of like the Epstein files
And so Phaenon, whoever he is, probably hoped that some might grasp that there was potential in the story. It's just everything about its execution, beyond visuals and cast, were complete nonsense -

Lol at the list.
Brings to mind the Red Letter Media video when Mike is droning question after question and Jay's eyes just glaze over.
Unfortunately it wasn't a comedy. Ridders swallowed his own hype. -

The best part about the Red Letter Media thing is that Carrots thought they were praising it
There's no reasoning with idiots
But, it really is the little engine that couldn't and here we are…14 years later and waiting for that moment when it becomes a cult classic like Alien or Bladerunner
