Rookie Of The Year and Little Big League were put into production at the same time. Little Big League took longer to make because Castle Rock wanted an authentic look rather than a low-budget look, like Rookie Of The Year.

False. Rookie Of The Year was filmed September-December 1992 and Little Big League was filmed August-November 1993.
Actually do some research before posting bullshit, you jackass. -

How is it a ripoff? it was based on a book. therefore if anything, rookie of the year was a ripoff of this movie! plus the story lines really have nothing to do with each other. i mean, what does the kid having a single mom have to do with anything?
wait what? -

One is a family movie with baseball tossed in (Rookie of the Year) and one was actually a pretty good baseball movie that had some heart warming family themes tossed in (Little Big League). The actual baseball seen in some of the montages are really good quality plays that you could totally see on the highlight reel. Or you could have a kid strike out on of the best hitters in the league with an underhand pitch because he finds out he loves his mommy. Daniel Stern was awful as were the kids in ROY but always gotta hand it to Busey.

if there's one thing i don't like on imdb, it's when someone makes an uninformed post. if it was really based on a book, then i made a dumb comment saying this movie rips of "rookie of the year."
it's just i saw a lot of similar plot threads in "little big league," and i grew up on rookie of the year, it's one of my favorites. -

It's a billion times better than Rookie of the year. Man that movie sucked. I didn't even like it much as a kid.
Little Big League I always loved. It's smart.

I may be two years late to the party, but people who are saying that this is better than Rookie of the Year is ridiculous. I have never EVER seen a blander kid in the leading role than this kid in Little Big League. Rookie of the Year has the better characters and the better jokes. Little Big League doesn't deserve to smell Rookie of the Year's feces.
