there's a chance he's not the guy. the people in charge of the investigation have displayed a lot of incompetence.
I think they said Tyler's DNA was on the towel that the gun was wrapped in but not the gun or unfired bullets.
“I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Patel said in an interview on Fox News’s Fox & Friends.

so it's not 100% clear. also he may have been involved someway but not the actual shooter. there's also the israeli angle that has yet to be fully explained.

Granted, it could also be that the guy is a psychopath and can't be expected to behave normally. But some of the stuff being mentioned to a romantic partner and roommate as if for the first time just seems weird.

If the texts are real it's awfully convenient how much exposition there is. It's just neatly tying up all loose ends and verifying every last piece of existing evidence.
Not everything needs to be a big conspiracy but it's all such a ****show we'll never buy the official story anyway.

he's not some tiktok zoomer
he barely had a social media presence
he was a normie who plays games with his friends (which is most likely why he was using discord at all) and got accepted to a nice college and ate dinner with his family and had outdoor hobbies, etc

I even missed one from one of my own examples. "Then interrogated someone in similar clothing." "Interrogated," like "vehicle," is cop speak. These are the least compelling to me given his family background in law enforcement, but it's still really weird. ("Clothing" also seems to be rather formal. "Clothes" would suffice.)

Some of the verbiage is weird but maybe he's just an awkward autismo. Everything else about is it still sketchy. In a few short exchanges he's admitted guilt in every way possible and listed out every detail you could ever want.

I suspect because he thought walking around campus with it was too risky, even concealed.
He probably planned to get his car first, then drive back over to where he hid the gun and his lame disguise, toss 'em both in the trunk, and then drive off undetected. -

I think he didn't really expect people to run back to the parking lot so quickly. As you say, he seemed to feel that carrying a rifle wrapped in a towel became too risky with a lot of people around. Apparently, he could have circled around to the side of the parking lot near the woods and retrieved the gun without much likelihood of being noticed.
The comment about his dad being MAGA is sort of interesting. Sons often have conflicts with their dads at this age. This might have been a way to get back at his dad, among other things.
