Having said this, I agree that the timing was unfortunate.
There's never an unfortunate time to arrest criminals. If you start making exceptions, you're basically setting a precedent that lawbreakers can dodge accountability just by sprinting to the nearest disaster zone and pretending to chop firewood (which they were actually doing and over a mile away from the fire line at that, not actually fighting the fire). Border Patrol actually stopped firefighters for three hours while they were fighting a wildfire, in order to line them up and demand they show IDs. They arrested two of the firefighters.
Except they werent "fighting fires" they were chopping firewood over a mile away from the actual fire line.
