I am most familiar with Art Metrano's performances in the Police Academy movies. Every time I see the shower scene in which he glues his hands to his head, it takes me at least a half hour to stop laughing. I am sorry to hear about his accident and I hope he continues to inspire others. He is truly a great comedian and actor.

It's interesting to find out differing impressions. In my case I don't really recall Art Metrano from "Police Academy" or "The Tonight Show" yet remember him from "Barney Miller" and "Movin' On." Guess that's the influence of '70's television, Art and Rosey Grier were a formidable team on the latter series.
Hadn't heard about his accident until recently, I tried sending him a best-wishes message at his website but it bounced. If he's still doing his one-man show and it's in my area, will try to see it.

Excellent comic actor and the best thing about the Police Academy films is his character; Mauser!
He was very brave to take on that role, given all the abuse his character would have to endure.
