I'm not near the ocean, but where I was born is, and it's the Atlantic Ocean so yes, there are sharks.

I prefer a nice clean lake. I'm near a river, but the water is questionable so I just go for walks along the river.

Oh this is well planned and the thickness of the ice is measured before it is officially opened.
It gets very cold here in the winter. -28C kind of cold!
It's 7.8 kilometers long. The Rideau canal attracts many tourists in the winter. It's been open for skating since 1970.

That's a HUGE canal. Our are 1/4 that. We have narrow boats , they are called.
