Rollin can make some poor films but there was good atmosphere and I liked the ending alot. The woman being nailed to the door was effing freaky.

Rollin films are always hit and miss to watch. There are scenes that make no sense and stretches of movies where nothing happens. Then there are clever ideas, great atmospheric locations and hot(fully nude) French women. For the most part I find his movies very interesting and unique. He has his own style and when you get used to it(I've seen at least 11-12 of them) they are worth watching.

Definitely one of Rollin's more conventional, most accessible, and hence quite brutally effective movies. I especially dug the eerily unsettling use of the beautifully verdant French countryside. Moreover, it's a stroke of genius to have the infected people be all too painfully aware of their dismal condition. That particular aspect of the story is not only deeply disturbing, it also further adds an unexpectedly wrenching substantial poignancy to the piece. 8 out of 10 from me.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
