We had ours from 1979 to 1992. It took a little getting used to at first.
Aside from the time it took to fill, get the temperature where it needed to be, and drain it over three moves, we had no issues with back and muscle pain.
Adjusting the temperatures was annoying. To combat that claminess, I'd spread a couple of quilts under the sheets.
It took so long to get use to a regular mattress.
These days, we have an adjustable bed. I don't ever want to sleep on anything else.
