I don't think it does, depending on the drink. I don't drink enough to get drunk. I just spent so much of my life being picky that when I started broadening my horizons, I acquired a taste for things like licorice, beer, and other flavors some people struggle with.

Some alcoholic beverages taste good. I think people like the feeling of being intoxicated more though.
