here is some "science" on the subject of reverse storm surge
https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/extreme-weather-verify/tampa-bay-empty-hurricane-ian-reverse-storm-surge-fact-check/536-d6861a7e-c4bf-4807-9c0e-7713cb1ef259
but this refers to tampa bay which is just a giant exit ramp from the Gulf of M. The tiktok guy said he was on the gulf. i think he's on the bay and what is shown is that area; no beachfront homes on the gulf in his county have breakwaters like his: you have the beach and that is all;beyond that, the gulf.
his visual is true but he misstated the location.
EDIT update
. I'm wrong above. I researched his location. he lives on Indian Bluff Island. the body of water to his immediate west is saint joseph sound;to its west is the Gulf. technically, he's not "on" the Gulf, but he's obviously impacted by it.assuming google maps is accurate, he's about 3.75 miles from open water.the beachfront homes lie further south in the county; he's a software startup bro, who's lucky Ian didnt hit this far north, otherwise his beautiful mansion be rubble. -

There's a theoretical model which proposes that a hurricane might be capable of causing a tsunami by building up giant sand hills on the ocean floor, which could suddenly shift and turn into a tsunami, but it's basically gibberish and has never happened.
