Poll: Should the monarchy die with the Queen?

— 3 years ago(September 08, 2022 08:11 PM)I'm not either but I think she was an incredible woman who worked very hard.
I'd definitely boot out the minor royals, Fergie, Princess Pushy the Nazi, Meghan and Twatface etc but definitely no to President Truss!
I was watching her yesterday in PMs questions and she looked so smug, so pleased with herself. I wondered why anyone wants to do the job because it always ends in abject humiliation.
It's all very strange and surreal at the moment, I wonder how King Charles will do. -

If the people of UK wish to retain a monarchy, then so be it. It has nothing to do with anyone else
It does really, because of the monarchy, there are over 50 independent countries in the Commonwealth, including Canada, Australia and NZ. It affects more than just the UK, both politically and economically. Scotland wants out of it.
While I had no issue with the queen, (
She was born into this privilege and in imposing patriarchal times. QE was rightly respected due to the manner in which she held her position and conducted herself
), the British Monarch does need to come under massive scrutiny. How did these super duper uber-elitist snobs attain their exorbitant wealth and privilege?
Cancel culture needs to extend to these top tier ostentatious social milieus, instead of focusing on insignificant infractions for distraction.

That’s exactly how I feel about it all.
And yes, lots of countries other than the UK will be affected and will presumably also need to change their money and maybe stamps

The elitist ties that bind will make change difficult. Status Quo doesn't like change.
The British Monarchy is figurehead only, yet who knows what subterfuge goes on with government and corporate connections to Royalty. It appears that more right wing/capitalist governing bodies are more beholden to the Royal ties

Yes, exactly this. I don’t know if anything will change but I can only see their popularity dwindling with the death of the Queen. I don’t think the others will manage to have quite the pull that she had and I think part of that was her longevity and connection to days gone by (and the war, the right wingers love all that). -

The Queen was very much a product of her time and royal protocol could now be considered archaic and outdated. It is tradition only and some traditions do need to die.
The Royals have also been strong endorsers of the military, where capitalist interests/gains have thrived. Things do need to change and relic attitudes along with it.

The wealthier countries like Canada and Australia…
How much do those countries contribute to the monarchy?
You Brits should give it up simply because you can't afford it. That will be apparent when the UK freezes this winter.

Perhaps you need to ask how much does the monarchy contribute to the elitists in countries other than the UK and what benefit does British Royalty gain from being figure heads in Commonwealth countries?
I don’t live in the UK.
