Good stuff. I really should be doing that too. But I only have a few logs left to chop. Need to get more.

Three sugar maples…none shorter than 40feet…the clump one looked to go over 60.
I got wood for like three winter I reckon.
Now here goes the kicker…I don't own a log splitter

Strong. I see the pictures but think of hungry Arkansas and all the wood he chops.

That’s cool. You must have a lot of energy, and be in fairly good shape. I’ll be doing the same here pretty soon. But personally, I can’t imagine putting away 5, 6, 7+ cords of wood, each winter, when I’m in my 60’s or 70’s.
That, and due to rising energy costs, my next place will likely be earth sheltered. Possibly an Icelandic turf house.

                    Pretty cool, huh
Up to around 70 years back or so, it was typically a communal living arrangement. Several families lived together in a shared space. There was a common room in which everyone slept together. There was a kitchen area, and an area for livestock. I think they were all connected, so that when the weather was foul, you didn’t even have to go outside to access the other rooms.

They obviously weren't worried about privacy! I don't know if I'd like that much communal living.

Yes, I like the homes for their energy efficiency. But it would just be me, and possibly one other person.

I would do this in a heartbeat! I like the idea of family close to help. THe older ones helping with kids and the younger doing more strenuous chores, when needed. I absolutely LOVE this

That’s cool if it works for you. Some families get along better than others. It worked for the Waltons

Nope…I live in a very modestly sized home…2000 square foot.
This picture is at my mother in laws house… which is now technically my house.
It's also about the same size.
