All the characters really never had another hit show or movie following Seinfeld. I know Julia Louis Dreyfus is doing well with Veep. But it took her close to 20 years for her to find success. I think it's the problem of being on a hit TV show that is tremendously popular and successful - 90210, Seinfeld, Melrose Place etc. People known them as being Dylan McKay, Brandon Walsh, George Costanza, etc. that it's hard for audience to associate them with any other character.

That is something that happens to a lot of TV actors on hit shows. They can rarely escape their TV persona that the people love them for. It will happen for a number of the newcomers in Game of Thrones once the show is over. One of the better ways to avoid this is to take on multiple roles at the same time. However, just trying to make films when you are not at work does not really work either. The better choice is to play two different roles simultaneously on two different shows. Get your popularity from mixed directions. That way, when one show ends, you can stay on the other and look for that new show. This however is extremely hard due to the demands of television series. That is why taking on film roles during off season is what usually happens. But those films roles NEED to be hits to escape and get the audience to see you differently. Think Michael J Fox with 'Family Ties' how he landed the role of Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future' He worked hard and did that film at night, while filming FT during the day. The gamble payed off because 'Back' was a smart choice and launched its own franchise.

it's not a bad strategy to take on multiple roles but it doesn't always work. Bill Cosby for instance had tremendous success with his Cosby show in the 80's but cranked out a lot of bad movies at the time.
Michael J. Fox was talented but sadly could not find many good scripts outside of Back to the Future.
I think Mike Richards was basically a one trick pony. -

Bill Cosby by that stage was at the tail end of his career and popularity as it were. He had already done a lot of work in the 60s and 70s in television and movies. The Cosby Show was kind of his swan song in terms of his popularity as a celebrity got him the show (Or at least got it made).
Michael J. Fox's problem was his structure as a person. It was not so much not him finding good scripts to play, it was that his look and appearance limited his roles to his youthful appearance, which once her turned 30+ he could no longer really play anymore. And with the way films were going, it was hard to imagine Michael becoming some kind of action hero like John Mclane.
In terms of Michael Richards, I kinda have to agree. He had done one or two films prior to Seinfeld, UHF with Weird Al, and in Problem Child as the escaped convict. None of these roles were anything really beyond what he did in Seinfeld. He did a film with Jeff Danials in the 90s (A court movie comedy) where he basically played Kramer again. So, I don't think Michael Richards can really complain, since he kind of played out his welcome by doing the same thing over and over again. -

New adventures with old Christine had 5 seasons and Julia Louis Dreyfus won an Emmy and was nominated every other year and obviously veep has been a huge success. Jerry is still a successful stand up comedian and has been making hundreds of millions of dollars off Seinfeld for the last 20 years so he really hasn't needed to work. Jason Alexander hasn't really done anything big and his attempts at sitcoms have failed but he's gotten steady work as an actor since Seinfeld ended. Michael Richards is the only one who really hasn't done anything.

Louis-Dreyfus had boatloads of sex appeal and got more attractive as she got older so she was always going to be the one to find another hit show/project
Jerry has done alright for himself as well with the standup but never really ventured back into acting (he was kind of ****house at it anyways)
