Absolute garbage

I dunno if I would say garbage, but it didn't do anything for me either. It was trying too hard to be weird, and had the opposite effect because of it. I was bored by the whole thing, and even the songs didn't hold my interest. It was just all so expected and pedestrian.

I don't get people that have to come on and take the time to trash the movie. It's not for everyone, and the fact that it's low budget and badly made with tons of continuity errors is part of the appeal (the amazing rebuttoning shirt). So go watch Rugrats or whatever you watch and have fun!

the amazing rebuttoning shirt
I've seen TRHPS five times in movie theatres within a year (albeit over thirty years ago) and several times from disc, both DVD and later on Blu-ray. I can quote most of the dialogue by heart and certainly sing along every single song that is on the soundtrack.
Yet I never took notice of an amazing rebuttoning shirt. I must have missed something important.NOOOOOOOOOT!!!

It was more the high end of low budget anyway - 1.2 to 1.4 million dollars at the time which is over 5 million dollars in today's money. This is the studio that made The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure - not corny movies. The Rocky Horror Show was already a cult stage hit when the movie came out. It was responding to interest that was already there, not trying to subvert every suburban teenager.
