Might be a dumb suggestion but have you tried Quentin Tarantino?

Not dumb at all! 🙂 Yes, i have watched almost all of QTs films and I agree they give a helluva similar vibe.
also, layer cake, lock stock, rocknrolla, snatch, give a similar vibe. I just love these movies.
Perhaps I missed some that are similar and you and our friends here can suggest 🙂
      Cheers mate

If you haven't seen In Bruges I'd recommend that

In Bruges. Gangster No. 1. Might also want to try Trainspotting. Check out the original Old Boy.

'The Business' with Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan. More ex-pats on the 'Costa del Crime'

Try "Get Carter", the original Michael Caine film, not the awful American remake. It's a bit bleak but it is so good.

"The Long Good Friday" is a terrific movie and Bob Hoskins gives a superb performance in it.

A Brit mini-series called "The Take" with Tom Hardy is up your alley and is AMAZEBALLS.

The Jump, 1998 action thriller mini-series based on a Martina Cole novel, starring Adrian Dunbar. Also, Sweeney 2 which is partly set in Malta and The Squeeze, a violent 1977 crime drama starring Stacy Keach as an alcoholic private eye looking for his ex-wife and her child. The main villain in it is a bit like The Don but with an Irish accent and not quite as gobby.
