The person who posted that the girl was late and didn't want to get in trouble has a good point.

I always thought that Nicki & Donna just really didn't believe her and that the make-up girl was using this to get closer to "madonna's extended family".
Also, it takes a lot to get a rectum to bleed and most guys would have trouble getting there due to cheek clutter. And why the use the back entrance not a conventional rape. Personally, I don't believe it. -

"Maybe she was over it? Madonna was raped three times before she was famous and had three abortions because of it. She also watched her best friend die of AIDS. I'm guessing it was nothing new for her."Where did you hear of this? I would like to hear more about this story..

READ OUTOFTHESKY89'S POST. THAT IS EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE FILM!!!!!
Everyone else seems to be adding their own ideas to the film, things that never happened and words that were never uttered.
I'm actually watching it on Fuse at the moment and that part of the film just played. Madonna herself never talked to MaMa; Carlton was the one relaying the news to Madonna. MaMa was telling her tale to the backup singers and they seemed totally disinterested the whole time. To me IMOP, Niki and Donna (the backup singers), were the ones that came off cold and callous. Madonnas laugh sounded more like the laugh of the shocked and not of someone making light of someone elses misfortune.
None of us were there at the club or during the documentary so none of us can say what anyones true attentions were.
To the ignorant MoFo's who say that MaMa or women in general deserve to be raped have severe mental problems. Let me ram a broomstick up your poopshoot just because "you deserve it", or just because "you're male", or just because you flirted with me at a club then changed your mind after we were alone, or just because all "men are womanizing sluts"
Those are all the words you used to justify a woman being raped so if I take the woman out of the equation and put you in her place then you, using your own logic, would enjoy being raped. I'll just let karma do it's job and maybe some of you mofo's will find out that rape is not a joking matter. -

I agree with you on the laughter thing. It was a nervous laughter. Kinda like "You have got to be joking" 'cause the news was so disturbing, she didnt wanna believe it.
But the Nikki and Donna scene, I dont know Even if Mama make-up was faking it, even if she was an attention-whore (Wich I doubt, I really believe someone drugged her and raped her!) when the make up artist is telling what happened, we can hear Nikkis voice trying to console her.

That bothered me too but I just got through watching it and the girl herself says she didn't know what happenned. She says the only thing she remembered was dancing and then the next thing she woke up in her hotel room.

doughdee222,
I watched the movie quite awhile ago and this scene is what really stuck out to me. I agree with you.. It was EXTREMELY disturbing to watch. It didn't seem like anyone took the rape seriously. I wonder if the perverts who raped this woman went on to rape other people?? Usually rapists don't stop after just one crime, they continue on..and sometimes increase their violence until they end up murdering people.
It's too bad they didn't report it to police (assuming they didn't.. they sure didn't make it seem like they reported during the documentary) so, these perverted thugs could get punished for their crimes. -

The weirdest thing is that Madonna decided to keep these scenes in the final cut. Although she wasn't the director, she had total control over the project and she decided to appear in the film like this. She didn't have to include these scenes and her crew's reactions, but she did.
When the director was asked if everything was real in the documentary, he replied "yes, but we had to film all the scenes twice", which is quite a funny answer. This documentary is supposed to show how Madonna is in real life and backstage, but it just shows how she wants to be portrayed and how she acts in front of a camera. Then it's difficult to know what's real and what's staged. I don't think this film is a very objective way to see Madonna as a woman in real life; it's a way for her to play with the audience and the "rape scenes" just add to the confusion. And I just can't believe that all those who heard the story could be so cold and unsympathetic to the make-up girl, should this story be true.

There are a number of things going on here:
First madonna herself was raped. She may never came to terms with it and only wanted people to see her as strong and not wanting pity. The make up artist is clearly taking a moment to reflect on her victimization, as one should do if they are victimized so she can then get past it. Madonna was never willing to do this but rather sublimated her victimization in her many rape themed works such as Like a Prayer, a rape theme in the book sex, A certain Sacrifice, Dangerous Game, the japanese anime in her drowned world tour, etc. Different people handle things in different ways. Madonna used her rape experience as a launching pad to turn the tables around on sexuality but at the same time, from her reaction to the woman's story never came to terms that she how vulnerable she was. So she scoffs at the chubby girl's vulnerability and is derisive toward it. Had Madonna not been raped and experienced this reaction to the girl's story she would be some kind of sociopath. Of course since she is not, there is a reason she acted this way, as this is not normal behavior.
Normal behavior when hearing a story like this from someone who has never been caught lying to you, is to react with shock and compassion or some recipe of that. The details may come out later of whether she filed a police report or not but in that moment that we saw, the situation demanded some sort of humane reaction. Madonna has her excuse but anyone else, dancers trying to emulate her or pathetic fans who will excuse any of her errant behavior without figuring out why, are seriously failing as human beings. -

If the incident that occurred was in fact RAPE, then I truly believe that something more should've been done
HOWEVER, the scene actually unfolded like this; Sharon decided to go out dancing in NYC, with NO members of the BAT brood. The next day, Carlton says to madonna "Sharon woke up this morning and her butt was bleeding". No one said rape, and Sharon herself was there working, looking hungover. She never said "I was raped, take Mamma makeup to the doctor, please." Had she truly been anally raped, NO WAY would she show up at the venue to work.
That is why I never took Madonna's reaction all too seriously. I believe SOMETHING happened, but was edited to be dramatic.

This reasoning is stupid, I know someone who was raped at gunpoint, spent the whole night in the emergency room and went to work the next day as if nothing happened. It's called denial and repression. If you wake up with your butt bleeding and don't know how it happened, you were sexually assaulted, whether she asks to be taken to the hospital or not is irrelevant to that fact.

Regardless of what you may think about that scene, it is an awful scene and probably should have been cut out of the entire film.
I'm of the opinion now that the entire movie is staged along with that scene. But that said, Madonna's reaction was terrible. I can't believe she left it in the final product.
