The person who posted that the girl was late and didn't want to get in trouble has a good point.
The fact remains that Madonna was not the person who the make-up artist should have talked to if she genuinely suspected she's been raped. The Blonde Ambition tour was huge - they most likely had a doctor travelling with them, or had one on call for Madonna and her crew while they were touring. Not to mention the huge amount of security around at all timesthis girl could have gone to any of them. Or the hospital. Or the police.
The girl actually said (with a giggle, I might add) that she went out dancing, danced with some guys, and woke up in her hotel room (her OWN hotel room?), and her "butt kinda hurt."
As a female who has every sympathy with rape and violence victims, if this had happened to me, I would go to the hospital as soon as possible, get checked out, and probably go to the police to report a rape. I would also have begun the round of medication that is given to rape victims and people who have been exposed to AIDS-infected blood to reduce the chances that HIV will develop in their system, PLUS the morning-after pill, just for insurance. Seriously, who would really go to work after suspecting that something so awful might have happened?
From the girl's own laughter, it's clear that she went out, had too much to drink, passed out in her room, and overslept. She's not taking it seriously, and therefore Madonna isn't either.
There is also a lot of footage that we didn't see - ever heard of editing? This scene was put in the film for its shock value. For all we know, Madonna talked to her after the show and asked her what really happened. The fact that no one ever mentions it again says a lot -

I agree with you on each of your points AND, but one thing - the morning after pill wasn't approved by the FDA until 1997.

Just because you would go to the hospital doesn't mean that every rape victim will. Especially one where the crime has just happened and the victim is still in shock. I wouldn't expect any rape victim to behave completely rationally after something like that happened.

I have read all comments to date. AND77's comments rings the truest for me. Like some of you have said though: no one knows what happened behind the behind scenes. It was unfortunate that the make up lady had a traumatic experience, if she actually did we'll honestly never know. Unfortunately, I don't foresee a 20 year reunion of this tour crew they could rEaLlY play truth or dare on this point. Regardless, Madonna's laughing was shocking. At that stage of her development, that was exactly her life goal at the time. I am excited for her that she has not burned out on alcohol or drugs and is a mature mother and wifethat is integrity on some level people! To go from dozens of sex partners to being a family womannothing short of a miracle

I recently watched this film a few weeks ago, and that isn't how things went down at all. A man - I think Carlton - tells Madonna that the make-up artist was raped, and Madonna expresses disbelief that the woman can't remember "something like that" happening to her (a reaction probably spawning from Madonna's rape a decade earlier). The man explains that the make-up artist thinks that she was drugged, and Madonna is stricken with a bought of inappropriate laughter (the kind you get when you're told that your grandfather has died, or another similar trauma), for which she immediately apologizes, and shares her theory of the crime - the make-up artist was out partying and told some guys that she was with the Blond Ambition Tour, and the guys decided to mess with her. As she's talking to Carlton, she's clearly enraged that someone would to this to one of her crew.
Madonna is never seen talking to the make-up artist about the rape. The make-up artist is seen talking to Niki and Donna, who are both busy doing their make-up and seem disinterested with the make-up artist's tale. At the end of the segment, the make-up artist tells Niki and Donna that she's never going out alone again, and that she's going to stick with "you guys" - no one tells her not to go out alone.
Madonna's behavior in this scene didn't disturb me in the least - if anything, I was more disturbed by Donna and Niki's indifference to the rape than Madonna's reaction. -

I always thought that Nicki & Donna just really didn't believe her and that the make-up girl was using this to get closer to "madonna's extended family".
Also, it takes a lot to get a rectum to bleed and most guys would have trouble getting there due to cheek clutter. And why the use the back entrance not a conventional rape. Personally, I don't believe it. -

"Maybe she was over it? Madonna was raped three times before she was famous and had three abortions because of it. She also watched her best friend die of AIDS. I'm guessing it was nothing new for her."Where did you hear of this? I would like to hear more about this story..

READ OUTOFTHESKY89'S POST. THAT IS EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE FILM!!!!!
Everyone else seems to be adding their own ideas to the film, things that never happened and words that were never uttered.
I'm actually watching it on Fuse at the moment and that part of the film just played. Madonna herself never talked to MaMa; Carlton was the one relaying the news to Madonna. MaMa was telling her tale to the backup singers and they seemed totally disinterested the whole time. To me IMOP, Niki and Donna (the backup singers), were the ones that came off cold and callous. Madonnas laugh sounded more like the laugh of the shocked and not of someone making light of someone elses misfortune.
None of us were there at the club or during the documentary so none of us can say what anyones true attentions were.
To the ignorant MoFo's who say that MaMa or women in general deserve to be raped have severe mental problems. Let me ram a broomstick up your poopshoot just because "you deserve it", or just because "you're male", or just because you flirted with me at a club then changed your mind after we were alone, or just because all "men are womanizing sluts"
Those are all the words you used to justify a woman being raped so if I take the woman out of the equation and put you in her place then you, using your own logic, would enjoy being raped. I'll just let karma do it's job and maybe some of you mofo's will find out that rape is not a joking matter. -

I agree with you on the laughter thing. It was a nervous laughter. Kinda like "You have got to be joking" 'cause the news was so disturbing, she didnt wanna believe it.
But the Nikki and Donna scene, I dont know Even if Mama make-up was faking it, even if she was an attention-whore (Wich I doubt, I really believe someone drugged her and raped her!) when the make up artist is telling what happened, we can hear Nikkis voice trying to console her.

That bothered me too but I just got through watching it and the girl herself says she didn't know what happenned. She says the only thing she remembered was dancing and then the next thing she woke up in her hotel room.

doughdee222,
I watched the movie quite awhile ago and this scene is what really stuck out to me. I agree with you.. It was EXTREMELY disturbing to watch. It didn't seem like anyone took the rape seriously. I wonder if the perverts who raped this woman went on to rape other people?? Usually rapists don't stop after just one crime, they continue on..and sometimes increase their violence until they end up murdering people.
It's too bad they didn't report it to police (assuming they didn't.. they sure didn't make it seem like they reported during the documentary) so, these perverted thugs could get punished for their crimes. -

The weirdest thing is that Madonna decided to keep these scenes in the final cut. Although she wasn't the director, she had total control over the project and she decided to appear in the film like this. She didn't have to include these scenes and her crew's reactions, but she did.
When the director was asked if everything was real in the documentary, he replied "yes, but we had to film all the scenes twice", which is quite a funny answer. This documentary is supposed to show how Madonna is in real life and backstage, but it just shows how she wants to be portrayed and how she acts in front of a camera. Then it's difficult to know what's real and what's staged. I don't think this film is a very objective way to see Madonna as a woman in real life; it's a way for her to play with the audience and the "rape scenes" just add to the confusion. And I just can't believe that all those who heard the story could be so cold and unsympathetic to the make-up girl, should this story be true.
