Which is the best silent hill?

the one you played was the second one. there is a special edition which alowes you play as maria in a prologue leading up to the events of the main game. this is i think the best one to play, because it's a stand-alone story that has nothing to do with the others. sh3 is good, but it helps if you played sh1, because of characters and elements from that game. i have not played sh4, so i couldn't tell ya about that one.
but i did notice that the film contains elements from the first three games, so if i was you i would play all of them. if you can find them all that is. -

I would honestly say the second one is the best if your just playing for fun. The best villian of the series (Pyramid Head) and a great story.
However if your looking to get into the entire series. I would hunt down the original Silent Hill on Playstation format and start there. Silent Hill 3 is heavily connected to the first game. And the fourth has some involvement with the second's premise. -

Is there not another collection coming up soon I read it somewhere(Silent Hill complete Set this one is called) and that one would include all Silent hill titles which mean SH1 aswell strange that they release this one know and not before collection.
Anyway the one I think is best is SH1 with SH2 and SH3 close seconds like most people I think SH4 was little of a disappointment I liked some of the new stuff but it was badly inplanted in the game. -

Silent Hill 1 is pure nostalgia to me. Silent Hill 2 was merely extremely depressing (went through a breakup during the week I played this back in 2001). Silent Hill 3 was just incredibly scary. I never got around to playing the 4th, but I saw itit just ranked in at creepy.
