well there have been hobbit movies in the past, but none by Peter Jackson, the man behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit is projected to come to theatres December 2011, and from what I've heard, some of the actors from LOTR will make an appearance in it. It's all up in the air right now, I havent heard anything for certain yet.

well as of right now peter jackson is writing the screenplay along with Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro is directing it. we'll have to wait and see. i dont know if peter jackson is going to want to be more involved or not.

not very common, del toro didn't make the top 50 most common list of hispanic names. Benicio's birth name is Benicio Monserrate Rafael Del Toro Sanchez, if he was named traditionally, del toro would have been his father's last name and sanchez would have been his mother's maiden name. Guillermo's birth name is Guillermo del Toro Gmez, so his father's last name should have been del toro and his mother's maiden name Gmez. But Guillermo was born in Mexico and Benicio was born in Puerto Rico. I think the last name is just a coincidence. I haven't been able to find any information about them having any kind of blood relation. fun fact: del toro means "of the bull"

they could be related i mean the last name isn't common
weird that they use both the mom and father's last names
